Episode 307 – Crusty Drawers

Posted on March 8, 2013

This Week: Kevin and Kristin rattle through a whole bunch of movie news, including confirmed actors in the new Star Wars movie, the potential involvement of Christopher Nolan in The Justice League and James Bond, plus a listener question about The Guardians of the Galaxy. This leaves scant time for movie reviews, which is a good thing since neither had a chance to see Dead Man Down or Emperor. Though they do have a chance to thoroughly discuss Oz the Great and Powerful and how guys still try to get laid in magical lands. Finally, they tear through some DVD and Blu-ray recommendations before riding off into the sunset.

Episode 306 – More Depth Than ‘Butt’

Posted on March 1, 2013

This Week: Kevin returns from a tropical vacation, sunburned and offended at everyone being offended at the Oscar shenanigans this weekend. Kristin welcomes him back to the Magical Studio in the Sky, thankful that he showered before the show. They cram in a lot of movie talk, including reviews of Jack the Giant Slayer, 21 & Over and Phantom. They also give a preview of the ridiculously-named The Last Exorcism: Part II. Finally, they talk about DVDs and how it relates to drinking and vampires, then send everyone on their way thinking about the Oscar chances of Butt.

Episode 305 – The Big Fat Oscar Special #6

Posted on February 21, 2013

This Week: Kevin and Kristin pull out their Oscar ballots and make predictions on the big awards. But before they face the Argo/Lincoln conundrum, they take a look at the two terrible movies new to theaters this week: Snitch and Dark Skies. They also throw some DVD and Blu-ray suggestions in there for good measure, along with a listener email. And Kevin also tries to channel Tyler Perry to disastrous effect.

Episode 304 – If I Were a Teenage Girl

Posted on February 14, 2013

This Week: Kevin and Kristin celebrate a late Valentine’s Day in the Magical Studio in the Sky, talking about movies that will send everyone in the family to different theaters: the men can see A Good Day to Die Hard, the ladies can see Safe Haven, the teens can see Beautiful Creatures and the kiddies can see Escape from Planet Earth. They also talk about the impossible physics of the Die Hard movies, Nicholas Sparks cliches (of which there are many), terrible Southern accents and whatever the hell happened to Brendan Fraser’s career. They also play a listener voice mail, proving the phone number still works. XOXO

Episode 303 – Tractor-Sized Hippos

Posted on February 7, 2013

This Week: Kevin comes off the weekend’s Superthon to talk movies once again with Kristin Dreyer Kramer. They chat about the new movies of the week: Side Effects and Identity Thief. They also chew through some more Star Wars news… again. For a fun distraction, they also review Rex Reed’s review of Identity Thief (or rather Reed’s caustic review of Melissa McCarthy’s body shape). Kevin also reviews the Superman cocktail and threatens to make it for Kristin when he shows her The Star Wars Holiday Special.

Episode 302 – Old Guys in Diapers

Posted on January 31, 2013

This Week: Kevin and Kristin celebrate being able to see the movies they needed to this week, even if it meant lengthy road trips and shaky internet connections. They offer a mea culpa to their audience, apologizing for such terrible box office predictions. However, along with talking about Stand-Up Guys, Bullet to the Head and Warm Bodies, they also weigh in about Peter Farrelly’s Twitter fit, the potential for greatness in Man of Steel, Steven Soderbergh’s egress from filmmaking (again!) and Kevin’s love for boobs. Yes, boobs are back in the conversation! Then, they talk a bit about DVDs and Blu-rays before sending the audience along their merry way. Boobs!

Episode 301 – Zombie Singers From Space

Posted on January 24, 2013

This Week: Kristin makes her triumphant return to the Magical Studio in the Sky after going on holiday for the Worst Vacation Ever (i.e., her entire family got sick). To protect himself, Kevin wears a surgical mask and Hazmat suit, but is frustrating that it makes him look a bit chubby. Eventually, Kevin and Kristin stop bemoaning illness on vacation and start talking about the movies they didn’t see because… well, it’s January. They do give their two cents about the trailers for Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Parker and Movie 43, so the world can continue spinning. They also talk about DVDs, Blu-rays, international box office draws, explosions, lightning and BOOM!

Episode 300 – From One Sewer to Another

Posted on January 17, 2013

This Week: Kristin has left Kevin alone in the Magical Studio in the Sky so she can gallavant off to God knows where. So while KDK is enjoying a much-needed vacation, Kevin invites Nicholas Herum onto the show to put the Fat Guy quotient back in balance. They talk about movies they haven’t seen (like Mama and Broken City) as well as the one they did see (being The Last Stand). They also chat about their favorite Arnold movies as well as what little news there is about Jurassic Park 4. Nicholas is saddled with Kristin’s box office prediction, and he returns the favor to her. Then, the Fat Guys talk DVDs and Blu-rays before closing the doors to the Magical Studio in the Sky for another week.

Episode 299 – A Man with Breasts

Posted on January 10, 2013

This Week: Kevin and Kristin dive into award season’s home stretch by talking about the Oscar nominations, including who was snubbed and why Ben Affleck was told a knock-knock joke by the Academy. They also chat about torture and how it relates to Zero Dark Thirty. Other flicks for the week include Gangnam Squad and some nonsense spoof about found footage films. Egads! Kristin and Kevin also talk about a new home video marketing plan from Disney as well as DVD and Blu-ray recommendations. Whoop! Whoop!

Episode 298 – Why Would I Want to Put on Pants?

Posted on January 3, 2013

This Week: Kevin and Kristin dust off the debris from the holidays and get back to the grind of work for the first show of 2013. They kick off the year by discussing two award films and one decidedly not-award film: Texas Chainsaw 3D, Promised Land and The Impossible. (You’ll have to guess which one isn’t up for any awards.) They also chat about Kevin’s insane projects for 2013, including his beefcake calender, as well as come up with some new Christmas traditions to start next year. Finally, they wrap things up with some DVD and Blu-ray ideas for gift-card purchases before saying good-bye for another week.

Episode 297 – Miserahhhhllllggghh

Posted on December 27, 2012

This Week: Taking full credit for the end of the world not happening last week, Kevin and Kristin triumphantly return to the Magical Studio in the Sky to celebrate the end of the year. Of course, with all the movies already opening on Christmas Day (which was this past Tuesday, folks), they’re a little behind already. That doesn’t stop them from talking about Parental Guidance, Django Unchained and Les Miserables, which Kevin cannot pronounce. They also talk about the great cinematic moments of 2012 and look ahead to what they’re anticipating in 2013.

Episode 296 – You Have Saggy Boobies

Posted on December 20, 2012

This Week: Since the world is ending, Kevin and Kristin decide to continue talking about movies. They weigh in on the so-called family comedies The Guilt Trip and This Is Shit 40. They also talk a bit about Jack Reacher and whether Tom Cruise could kill anyone with a single punch. They also talk about Christmas plans, the box office, the coming Mayan apocalypse and cookies… always cookies. They also suggest some DVDs and Blu-rays, not that you’ll have time to buy them before the world ends.

Episode 295 – He Don’t Talk Amurican

Posted on December 13, 2012

This Week: With only one major movie opening this week, Kevin and Kristin gather a team of dwarves and wizards to return to Middle Earth. There they talk about upper Michigan coldness with Deadfall and how handjobs and hot dogs changed American history in Hyde Park on Hudson. They also talk about that little independent film you’ve heard of called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. In keeping with the spirit of Peter Jackson, this episode is presented in 48fps (which stands for 48 fat pudgy spasms). Kevin and Kristin also chat about DVDs and Blu-rays and learn how to properly say French words in movie titles.

Episode 294 – Transcending Caricature

Posted on December 6, 2012

This Week: Kevin and Kristin celebrate a week of no movies… at least not any that anyone wants to see. Sure, there’s that new Gerard Butler picture, but they didn’t screen that for anyone. So to have something to talk about, Kevin and Kristin look at Hitchcock and reminisce on the Master of Suspense’s best films. They also read an iTunes review that strokes their egos. After some box office predictions that are sure to be super accruate, they throw down some DVD and Blu-ray recommendations before signing off for another week.

Episode 293 – Zestfully Clean

Posted on November 29, 2012

This Week: Kevin and Kristin preside over the cleanest episode yet. In fact, it’s Zestfully clean. Kevin and Kristin also forget to tell anyone how to get a hold of them, but they correct that soon enough. They eventually get around to talking about movies, like the weirdly political Killing Them Softly and the not-at-all political The Collection. This leads them all to British-speaking Russia, where they talk about Joe Wright’s adaptation of Anna Karenina. Finally, they make some wildly inaccurate box office predictions before talking about some of the new DVDs and Blu-rays released this week.
