Episode 322 – All About Space Cowboys

Posted on June 20, 2013

This Week: It’s a monstrous week for movie reviews. There’s zombies, scary monsters in training, overly entitled celebrities and William Shakespeare. Kristin and Kevin talk about these films, along with the release date news for 2015… Kevin warns: Bring a towel. There’s also a new listener question about Superman Returns, then a slate of DVD and Blu-ray recommendations. Boo!

Episode 321 – Kinda Rocks

Posted on June 14, 2013

This Week: Kevin can’t even bring himself to do a victory dance this week because his and Kristin’s predictions were so terribly off-base for the box office. However, things look up after they rattle through some fun movie news and then head into a slate of movies to review: Man of Steel, This Is the End, The East and the much-anticipated, sure-to-be-blockbuster Hatchet III. Soon, Kevin and Kristin move on to answer a listener voice mail before giving their DVD and Blu-ray predictions for the week.

Episode 320 – Booty Shorts

Posted on June 7, 2013

This Week: Kevin forgoes his victory dance because of a typo, though Kristin doesn’t take the opportunity to dance herself, for which Kevin ends up claiming victory. Kristin further declares victory for the bombing of the latest M. Night Shyamalan movie. This leads to a discussion as to who is to blame for the failure. Then, it’s on to the reviews for The Purge and Stories We Tell, along with a brief discussion of The Internship, which wasn’t screened. Finally, they talk about DVDs and Blu-rays and which is the actual stinker of the week.

Episode 319 – I’m Exhausted

Posted on May 31, 2013

This Week: Again, Kevin traumatizes Kristin with his box office victory dance. However, Kristin has the last laugh when it is revealed that Kevin was traumatized by Jaden Smith’s new movie. Before diving into that review and one for Now You See Me, Kevin and Kristin talk about a slew of movie news. Then, after the reviews and more news, they rattle off some scant DVD and Blu-ray recommendations. Victory!

Episode 318 – Stripper Pole

Posted on May 23, 2013

This Week: Kevin traumatizes Kristin with his heroic victory dance again and demands new equipment for the Magical Studio in the Sky. He then twists the knife by yammering on more about Star Trek and J.J. Abrams. Finally, they move on to the movies, but Kristin can’t catch a break because she had to suffer through both Fast & Furious 6 and The Hangover: Part III. Sigh… if only they had screened Epic. After reviewing some films, Kevin and Kristin answer a listener email and then talk about the large but mediocre selection of DVDs this week.

Episode 317 – I Declare This Belly!

Posted on May 16, 2013

This Week: Kevin and Kristin get ready for a trek into darkness as they discuss the latest film in the ever-growing Star Trek franchise. But first, Kevin declares legitimate victory in his box office prediction and then declares legitimate victory over Tyler Perry’s belly. They chat briefly about some movie news and later answer a listener voicemail about the demigod status of J.J. Abrams. In the middle of the show, Kevin and Kristin spend some time talking about movies in limited release, and eventually they lay down their favorite selections of DVDs and Blu-rays for the week.

Episode 316 – You’ve Gotta Know Where the Bathroom Is

Posted on May 10, 2013

This Week: Kevin welcomes Kristin back into the Magical Studio in the Sky with wine and roses, but really all she wants is some clean drinking water after her Peruvian adventure. After chatting about the box office, they talk about the crazy creatures Kristin saw in Peru, then they move onto the reviews of The Great Gatsby, Peeples and Aftershock. Kevin also relays his story of seeing The Great Gatsby with poor projection and the insane consequences he faced when he complained to the theater manager about it. Later, they take a voicemail from Thomas from Seattle and round up the DVDs of the week.

Episode 315 – Neutering the Film Industry

Posted on May 2, 2013

This Week: Kristin escapes from the Magical Studio in the Sky for a quick vacation to a place where she has to get vaccinations and bug-resistant clothing. Meanwhile, Kevin invites his New to Netflix co-host Nicholas Herum to fill Kristin’s shoes. And my, does he look funny in those high heels. This week, there’s not many releases, but the two fat guys manage to find plenty to say about exhibitors calling for more PG-13 movies and fewer R-rated movies, as well as the new film of the week: Iron Man 3. Later, they answer a listener voice mail about Joss Whedon and filmmaker fandom before rattling off some DVD suggestions and heading off into the sunset.

Episode 311 – ‘Splosions!

Posted on April 4, 2013

This Week: Kevin tries to snake away Kristin’s winning prediction on the box office, but he manages to get some sympathy from her later when he describes his experience with the movie The Host. Then they set out to offend pretty much everyone in the world by calling them stupid. Soon, things shape up to a real movie review show as they discuss the finer points of Evil Dead, Jurassic Park 3D and Family Weekend. Finally, they lay down some new box office predictions and talk about Marvel news while Kevin channels Bill Cosby and Pudding Pops.

Episode 310 – An Armenian Paris Hilton with a Big Butt

Posted on March 29, 2013

This Week: Kevin tries to claim credit for his box office predictions, but Kristin quickly becomes hip to his jive-turkey plan. Soon, Kevin moves on to analyze the similarities between Michael Bay movies and the Twilight franchise, suggesting that if one type is dangerous and offensive, the other is as well. Eventually, they move on to reviewing the new films out there (or rather reviewing the one film they actually had a chance to see). They stick it to G.I. Joe: Retaliation and then show some relief for not having to sit through the new films from Stephenie Meyer and Tyler Perry. Kevin takes the opportunity to offend people with a statement of sacrilege before prattling on about his spring break Trekathon. Meanwhile, Kristin hangs her head in shame for her co-host.

Episode 309 – Die Hard In Your Pants

Posted on March 22, 2013

This Week: Kevin pats Kristin on the back for getting closer to the box office topper than he did. He, of course, expects a return pat when he wins next time for sure. Then they chat about some scant movie news before moving on to this week’s reviews. Find out why Kristin thought The Croods was too rude and why Kevin thought Admission was too snobby. Also, find out not much about Olympus Has Fallen because the critic screening was held out to the bitter-end last minute. Then it’s on to the DVD and Blu-ray recommendations before Kevin and Kristin say good-bye to the Magical Studio in the Sky for another week.

Episode 308 – Atrocities Committed on Yoda

Posted on March 15, 2013

This Week: Kevin and Kristin face a massive wall of movies to review (and by “massive,” we mean “three and a half”). But before they hit on the new releases, they give their take on the box office, and Kevin quickly reviews the films from the previous week that were not screened. Kristin and Kevin also sound off about the groundbreaking fundraising for the Veronica Mars movie and what that means for other director. Then it’s right into movie reviews of Stoker, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and The Call. Finally, Kevin confesses his show choir history, and Kristin recounts the strange kidnapping of Yoda by her Smurfs. Things then wrap up with Kevin blundering the DVD Round-Up. It’s a hot mess this week in the Magical Studio in the Sky.
