Episode 337 – Happy Glasses

Posted on October 3, 2013

This Week: Kevin jumps in by igniting the holiday spirit in the Magical Studio in the Sky. No, not Christmas, but Halloween, which means horror movies abound for the month. Kristin and he answer a listener voice mail about Breaking Bad (even though neither watches the show), then they move on to the big movie news and raise their glasses to the recently deceased Tom Clancy. Then it’s on to the movie reviews, which includes Gravity, Runner Runner and Dario Argento’s Bat-shit Crazy Dracula. Finally, they give some box office predictions and talk about the new movies available on disc. Boo!

Episode 336 – Squat on a Rocket

Posted on September 26, 2013

This Week: Kevin comes out with strong support for pornography, leaving Kristin hanging her head in shame. They also talk about Rush, which is not about the band or the conservative talk show host. Kevin’s favorite subject of food comes up again for the adorable Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 and that second-favorite subject comes up with Don Jon. There’s also more eye rolling at Baggage Claim, with some love for the token white guy. Finally, Kevin and Kristin talk about box office and home video releases before sending you on your merry way.

Episode 335 – Boob Thesis

Posted on September 19, 2013

This Week: Kristin and Kevin rattle through the slate of movies, both big and small, this week. Selections include the thriller Prisoners and the incomprehensible Battle of the Year in wide release. There’s also Enough Said and Thanks for Sharing in limited release. They also talk about the genius Twitter thoughts of Jaden Smith, The Little Mermaid: Second Screen Experience, additional Star Wars and Pixar news, and some box office and DVDs. It’s a jam-packed show for a jam-packed show.

Episode 334 – Fight the Power

Posted on September 12, 2013

This Week: Kristin and Kevin dive right into the news with an exclusive interview with Alex Billington from FirstShowing.net, talking about the now-infamous incident at TIFF regarding cell phone use in press & industry screenings. They also move through some Harry Potter news as well as some changes to the ridiculously crowded 2015 summer of movies. Then, it’s off to the movies themselves as they preview Insidious: Chapter 2 and toss around a couple reviews of The Family and Drinking Buddies. Finally, it’s some box office goodness and the world-famous DVD Round-up! Yee haw!

Episode 333 – 50 Shades of Puddleface

Posted on September 6, 2013

This Week: Kevin and Kristin suffer through the doldrums of September with no advanced screening of Riddick, leading to wild speculation that it’ll be just like the other movies. Additional films for your viewing choices include the sister productions of Hell Baby and The Ultimate Life. Of course, Kevin and Kristin couldn’t get through a show without telling the audience what they think of the Internet-destroying casting announcements for 50 Shades of Gray. Oh, and DVDs and Blu-rays. That too, yah, yah.

Episode 332 – Affletic Supporters

Posted on August 29, 2013

This Week: Kristin and Kevin stagger into the Magical Studio in the Sky with a level of excitement that matches the quality of the run-of-the-mill films for Labor Day Weekend. It’s either that or a curious mixture of cough syrup and vodka that made them so tired. After stumbling through the paperwork on the show, they weigh in on the massive news of Ben Affleck as Batman, which pretty much broke the Internet last weekend. Then they slag through the major releases, including Closed Circuit, Getaway and One Direction: This Is Us. (Squeeeeeeeee!!!)

Episode 331 – A Madhouse!

Posted on August 23, 2013

This Week: The crazy month of August just got crazier in the Magical Studio in the Sky. After rattling through the bizarre box office from last week, Kristin and Kevin chat about bit about some Star Wars news that makes them feel weird inside. Then, they do their own pub crawl while discussing The World’s End and how it stacks up to the rest of Edgar Wright’s films. Then, they breeze through the awful The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones before having a smack-down about You’re Next. Later, they make wildly inaccurate box office predictions before heading into the DVD Round-Up… which Kevin screws up.

Episode 330 – The Whole Enchilada

Posted on August 16, 2013

This Week: Kevin and Kristin come to the full realization that the movie doldrums of August are upon us, knowing that the studios only screened one of the four films this week. Of course, that doesn’t stop them from giving their two cents for Jobs, The Butler and Paranoia. They also have an opinion on Kick-Ass 2, which was miraculously shown to press earlier in the week. To fill time, they also talk about some news stories as well as answer a listener question, which makes Kevin squirm as he tries to talk around naughty bits for the radio. Finally, it’s DVDs and a big, fat farewell until next week.

Episode 329 – Research!

Posted on August 9, 2013

This Week: It’s another big week in the Magical Studio in the Sky. Hollywood has clobbered Kristin and Kevin with a massive slate of four new movies this week, complete with a challenging screening schedule. Along with talking about We’re the Millers, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Planes and Elysium, Kevin and Kristin face a deluge of news stories. Topics include asshole venture capitalists who want to allow tweeting and texting during movies, asshole movie stars who blame critics for their failures and asshole movie producers who want to butcher foreign films for the non-existent Midwest foreign films market. Oh, and DVDs.

Episode 328 – I Have Class

Posted on August 1, 2013

This Week: Kristin celebrates her birthday in the Magical Studio in the Sky with a special gift from her daughter: a cold. Kevin wishes her a happy birthday, but even in her sleep-deprived state, Kristin notices that he got his box office assignments mixed up. Sadly, this results in Kevin not being able to perform his legendary victory pole dance, but he consoles himself by telling everyone about a fascinating dream he had. Things move into the movies for the week, including a poopy story about The Smurfs 2 and a minor disagreement about 2 Guns. Kevin offers a quick science lesson before reviewing Europa Report, and they discuss several news items with topics including Kickstarter, Harvey Weinstein, Spike Lee and the holiday family classic Oldboy. Then we’re left with the DVD Round-Up and a ride off into the sunset.

Episode 327 – Something’s Gonna Rupture

Posted on July 26, 2013

This Week: Kristin and Kevin have a huge slate of movies to talk about, including the huge movie of the week starring Huge Jackman – The Wolverine. They also talk about some smaller movies, including The To Do List (featuring no Aubrey Plaza nude scene, much to Kevin’s chagrin), The Way, Way Back and a whole lotta Ryan Gosling in Only God Forgives. But wait… there’s more! There’s also a listener voice mail about The Wolverine as well as box office predictions and home video recommendations. All this can be yours for three easy payments of $49.99!

Episode 326 – Alan Tudyk as Paula Deen

Posted on July 19, 2013

This Week: Kevin and Kristin crawl, exhausted, into the Magical Studio in the Sky. There, they talk about super spies in day care, Rex Reed being an idiot and ideas for the title of the epic Sharknado sequel. They also manage to talk a bit about the new movies of the week, including The Conjuring, Turbo, Red 2 and R.I.P.D.. Later, they examine the bloody list of DVDs and bid the world farewell for another week.

Episode 325 – Suck It, Harvey!

Posted on July 12, 2013

This Week: Kevin comes into the Magical Studio in the Sky in a depression that his pick for box office winner did not end the weekend with the expected $682 trillion. Still, he and Kristin pat each other on the back for knowing who was going to win. They chat about some movie news, including another MPAA battle with Harvey Weinstein as well as the future of DVDs and physical media. They also look at some new movies, including Pacific Rim, Grown Ups 2 and V/H/S 2. Then, it’s all about DVDs and Blu-rays before saying good-bye for another week.

Episode 324 – No Problem with the Cake

Posted on July 3, 2013

This Week: Kevin and Kristin check out the big releases for the 4th of July weekend (including Despicable Me 2 and The Lone Ranger), and they also give nods to smaller movies for the week (including Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain and Best Friends Forever). They also talk about how feminism relates to The Heat, as well as some news about Pixar sequels. There’s also some talk about box office winners, losers and predictions (which includes movie totals in the trillions of dollars… trillions, I tell you!). Finally, there’s some DVD and Blu-ray release. And when we say “some,” we really mean just a few.

Episode 323 – No Poop in the Sink

Posted on June 28, 2013

This Week: Kristin and Kevin prepare for the upcoming 4th of July week by chanting “U! S! A! U! S! A!” in the Magical Studio in the Sky and painting Kevin’s belly red, white and blue. But before all that happens, they look at the box office and Kevin takes another stab at a victory dance. They hit on some big news stories about Liam Neeson in Tak3n, the stupidly-named Independence Day sequel and the premium movie theater seating experiment. Later, Kevin reviews White House Down, but first Kristin goes on an rant about The Heat that lasts an entire segments. Finally, they suggest some good 4th of July movies and give scant DVD and Blu-ray recommendations.
