I personally would give the movie 2 stars. 70% of the film plays like a really bad version of black beauty, and by that I mean a cheesy Disney movie with really bad acting (probably exactly what you thought when you read the title). The other 30% chronicles WWI with some interesting battle scenes, which were the only redeeming qualities. The movie is too violent (both in footage and themes) for children under 13, and too silly to be taken as a real drama. It is also way way way too long, at almost 2.5 hours. I saw it based on this review and those on RottenTomatoes. Trust me, don’t waste your $10!!
