Posted on November 12, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: After the Magical Studio in the Sky is invaded by Kevin’s kids, the Fat Guys talk a bit about alien invasions as well as runaway trains and morning news shows. Of course, Neil hasn’t seen any of the movies this week, but that doesn’t stop him from waxing poetic about Tony Scott and Jessica Alba’s boobs. Before giving their full-figured DVD and Blu-ray picks of the week, Kevin and Neil lay down a Fat Give Five in honor of the recently deceased Dino di Laurentiis.

Episode 187 – MegaFat

Posted on November 5, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil Miller shows up in the Magical Studio in the Sky to lay down the gauntlet to Kevin Carr. After seeing movies almost exclusively at film festivals two or three times a year, Neil declares himself worthy because he’s seen two movies in limited release, compared to Kevin seeing two major releases for the week. Not surprisingly, neither one has seen the new Tyler Perry film, thanks to Lionsgate’s “we don’t screen our movies” policy. But the competent movie discussion soon deteriorates as Neil makes a Taxicab Confession about Star Wars in the infamous middle segment whilst laying down one of the best Fat Guy Fives in months.

Episode 186 – The Big Fat Halloween Special

Posted on October 29, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: It’s Halloween weekend, and that means the Fat Guys are more concerned about getting a big bag of candy instead of watching movies. This might account for the fact that neither of them saw Saw 3D… or maybe it was because like most of the other Saw movies, Lionsgate didn’t screen this one for press. That doesn’t stop the Fat Guys from talking about it, as well as a brief nod to the new Oscar-bait film Conviction, which Kevin did see. Neil is too tired in this episode to care either way. The show rolls on as Kevin tells how he almost got in a fight after seeing Paranormal Activity 2 before talking box office numbers and laying down a Fat Guy Five, in which he ranks the previous Saw movies.

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil and Kevin return to the Magical Studio in the Sky to contemplate ghost stories. Neil is, of course, wetting his pants in fear and Kevin is trying to get to a screening of Paranormal Activity 2. They also review Clint Eastwood’s latest Oscar grab, Hereafter and later discuss the potential fallout from Transformers: The Dark of the Moon being both shot in and post-converted to 3D. Finally, they lay down a Fat Give Five about great ghost movies before giving their DVD picks.

Episode 184 – Fatass 3D

Posted on October 15, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: After what the Fat Guys have been told was a very articulate and informative show last week, they bounce back to mediocrity and shenanigans. And it’s so appropriate that one of this week’s movies is Jackass 3D. They also talk about Red and the more intellectual documentary Waiting for Superman. Then they lay down a Fat Guy Five about some badass old people in action movies.

Episode 183 – Fat As We Know It

Posted on October 8, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil Miller makes his triumphant return to the Magical Studio in the Sky to talk about films he hasn’t seen (like Secretariat, Life as We Know It and My Soul to Take 3D) as well as one he has (Buried). Kevin welcomes him back with open arms, which leads to an uncharacteristically insightful discussion in the infamous middle segment about everything from Zack Snyder directing the Superman film to the reasons behind Hatchet 2 being pulled from release. All this happens before they wrap things up with a neat little bow that includes DVD reviews and a look back at the fantastic Fantastic Fest.

Posted on October 1, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: While Neil is still doing fantastic things at Fantastic Fest, Kevin invites David Medsker from Bullz-eye.com into the Magical Studio in the Sky to kick off October right with some horror movies. They invite a twelve-year-old vampire in with them and try to avoid being its lunch. They also debate about how relevant The Social Network is to actual social networks. They also wonder where the hell Renee Zellweger has been for the past half-decade. They also lay down a Fat Guy Five about American remakes of foreign films, ’cause good ones do actually exist.

Posted on September 23, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil gets embroiled in the fest known for being fantastic, so Kevin tracks down former guest-host Kelly Gingery from FlickChick.tv to join him in the Magical Studio in the Sky. Together, they sink their teeth into You Again and debate what they want to see in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Also, Kevin gushes over the new 3D CGI flick Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole while Kelly gushes over George Clooney (again!). Then they talk a bit about box office and lay down a Fat Guy Five that’s none too flattering to Jamie Lee Curtis.

Posted on September 17, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil makes his triumphant return to the Magical Studio in the Sky by not seeing any of the new films this week. Though he claims to have seen the trailers. Kevin weeps upon his arrival and then berates him for not seeing anything. Kevin also defends M. Night Shyamalan while Neil says really creepy things about Emma Stone. Out of protest, the Fat Guys get rid of the Alpha and Omega trailer before laying down a Fat Guy Five about actors-turned-directors.

Episode 179 – I’m Still Fat

Posted on September 10, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil is off on a sexually tryst with Jessica Alba (though it hasn’t been determined if she’s a willing participant), so Kevin welcomes Fozzie Bare back into the Magical Studio in the Sky to talk about movies that neither of them have seen (Resident Evil: Afterlife because Sony didn’t screen it for anyone and I’m Still Here which is screening late for Kevin). But the guys manage to talk about plenty of other things, including a quick preview of Catfish, giant eagles selling groceries out of vans, the 3D phenomenon, Hamlet, Kevin’s hate mail, The Room and crapping your pants. They also lay down a Fat Guy Five about their favorite movies that were not screened. And Kevin continually calls the new Resident Evil movie the Apocalypse instead of Afterlife.

Episode 178 – Fatete

Posted on September 2, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil is still bustling through his undisclosed location in preparation of Fantastic Fest, so Kevin invites Shannon Hood from FrothyGirlz.com to join him in the Magical Studio in the Sky. And there’s another unannounced surprise guest who makes an unscheduled appearance in the infamous third segment, utterly derailing the show. But Kevin and Shannon persevere, talking about Machete with the proper accent, Going the Distance with their thoughts on rom-coms and swooning over George Clooney in The American. Also, in honor of Danny Trejo, they lay down a Fat Guy Five about what it means to be a “that guy” in Hollywood. Oh, and Shannon gives us the scoop about Lindsay Lohan’s boobs.

Episode 177 – Sigh… It’s August

Posted on August 27, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: While Neil is busy transferring FSR HQ to a new, undisclosed location, Kevin invites Tim Buel from The Golden Briefcase into the Magical Studio in the Sky to help suffer through the August doldrums. They contemplate if an Avatar re-release is really necessary for just nine freaking minutes. Then, they contemplate the necessity for a film like Takers. Finally, they contemplate why Lionsgate didn’t widely screen The Last Exorcism for press. This leads to a surprisingly relevant box office discussion about Piranha 3D and its sequel-earning box office disappointment. Tim and Kevin also discuss the future of 3D and lay down a Fat Guy Five about their favorite Devils.

Episode 176 – Piranha McFatGuys Suck

Posted on August 19, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil go skinny-dipping in Lake Victoria, then scurry back to the Magical Studio in the Sky when they are attacked by a school of ancient piranhas. For this reason, they only saw two of the five movies that are being released this weekend. But that doesn’t stop them from talking about the flicks. Later, the Fat Guys talk about how Jason Friederg and Aaron Seltzer suck even more than vampires do, leading to a Fat Guy Five about Friedberg and Seltzer’s most out-of-place pop culture references. Then it’s DVD and Blu-ray suggestions, leading Kevin to recommend Cougar Town over Shakespeare. And Neil almost falls asleep.
