This Week: Kevin put on his Jedi robe and grabs his lightsaber, inviting Star Wars expert Chris Spears into the Magical Studio in the Sky. The two discuss the history of X-Men movies as well as the new one opening this week. Then, they delve into a discussion of The People Versus George Lucas, geek tattoos, how to spell Chewbacca’s home planet and whether George Lucas raped anything, let along our childhoods. they also lay down a Fat Guy Five about the comic book characters that deserve their own film (with Kevin admitting that this subject has definitely been covered before) and then giving out some DVD recommendations.

This Week: Kevin invites Ike from the It’s Mike and Ike podcast to the Magical Studio in the Sky to talk about all the number two that is coming to theaters this week. Later in the show, both Kevin and Ike show their disturbing knowledge about pornography and the Psycho movies before responding to some listener voice mails. Then, they knock out a Fat Guy Five about great number twos before laying down some DVD recommendations. Happy Memorial Day, folks!

fatguysatthemovies_banner

This Week: Kevin brings a new guest to the Magical Studio in the Sky… Freddy Morris from Night of the Living Pocast. They put on some bandanas and each grab a cutlass to talk about the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie as well as give a retrospective of the first three films. Freddy gives the lowdown on some bizarre horror films while Kevin explains the notorious origins of his Words With Friends screen name. Then, after a barrage of predictably off-color jokes about Jodie Foster’s Beaver, they sandwich in a slice of love for Disney between even more off-color discussions of feces and pornography. It’s typical Fat Guys banter, which ends with some DVD recommendations. Arrrrrgh!

This Week: After months of live-tweeting movies on Saturday nights together, Kevin invites Mel Valentin from eFilmCritic.com and SFStation.com into the Magical Studio in the Sky to dissect films properly. Together, they bemoan the inaccurate name of Screen Gems when they reflect upon not getting a screening of Priest. Then they disagree about films like Bridesmaids and Everything Must Go, with a nod to Hesher. They also answer a listener voicemail from the elusive Steve-Gabe before swerving into a discussion about whether Joss Whedon can handle The Avengers. Finally, they lay down a Fat Guy Five about ass-kicking religious figures in films before handing out some DVD recommendations.

This Week: Kevin brings Jeremy Kirk from The Golden Briefcase into the Magical Studio in the Sky for an eye-opening talk about superheroes, wedding movies and what Kat Dennings is doing in the Mighty Thor. They also talk about counter-programming for the first official weekend of summer and why the leaders of Asgard look like they should be in the Duchess of York’s car for the Royal Wedding. They also lay down a Fat Guy Five about which wedding movies have turned them on the most before knocking out some DVD recommendations.

Posted on April 28, 2011

fatguysatthemovies_banner

This Week: Kevin invites Fozzie Bare to join him in the Magical Studio in the Sky to talk about big, beefy bald dudes duking it out and how the Rock stole his look. They also turn their noses up at Hoodwinked Too and Dylan Dog, then remember their not-so-great Prom experiences. The middle segment spins off the rails with a retroactive discussion of Scream 4, Fozzie’s brush with America’s Top Model and why we need to worry about Cloris Leachman and syphillus. Finally, they wrap things up with some DVD picks and make an attempt to go out gracefully. (Hint, they failed.)

Episode 211 – The Crazy Nastyass Fat Guys

Posted on April 21, 2011

fatguysatthemovies_banner

This Week: Kevin goes to the ends of the earth – or rather the other side of the earth – to find Simon Miraudo from QuickFlix.com.au as this week’s guest host. While neither one has seen any of the new movies for the week, that doesn’t stop them from talking about the phenomenon of Madea and Robert Pattinson’s smell-the-fart acting. Simon also surprises us with an advanced review of Thor. Then there’s some talk of 3D televisions, Randall’s nature shows and a Fat Guy Five about most anticipated summer (and Australian winter) movies.

Posted on April 14, 2011

fatguysatthemovies_banner

This Week: Kevin is joined in the Magical Studio in the Sky by Brian Shirley from GeekTyrant in anticipation for the sparsely-screened but much hyped Scream 4, or as the posters like to say: SCRE4M. They also chat about Rio and their distaste for Jesse Eisenberg as well as fondness for a naked Anne Hathaway. There’s a new listener voice mail as well as a Fat Guy Five about franchises that overstayed their welcome. Finally, Kevin and Brian hand out some DVD and Blu-ray picks before Brian confesses his love for Gwenyth Paltrow.

Posted on April 7, 2011

fatguysatthemovies_banner

This Week: Kevin invites Elisabeth “Rattlesnake” Rappe from Chud.com and Film.com into the Magical Studio in the Sky to talk about alcoholics in movies, ass-kicking kids and faaaaaabulous hair-dos in fantasy films. The show is promptly derailed only a few minutes in when Elisabeth reminds Kevin about his bottled-up feelings for 80s-era Grace Jones, and Elisabeth opens up about certain films on late-night Cinemax later in the show. They also find time to talk about Arthur, Hanna, Your Highness and Soul Surfer as well as David Bowie’s alarming codpiece from Labyrinth. It’s a crazy time this week on Fat Guys!

Episode 208 – April Fools Redux

Posted on April 1, 2011

fatguysatthemovies_banner

This Week: Well, if you haven’t figured it out by now, Kevin and Neil were not offered a lucrative script-writing job for the new Justice League movie. In fact, Neil was fooled by the whole first day of April, so Kevin invited Shannon Hood from FrothyGirlz.com into the Magical Studio in the Sky to talk about the wash of original films opening this spring. They also give a quick recap of the South by Southwest Film Festival before listing a new Fat Guy Five: Five Unlikely Holiday Films, then handing out some DVD and Blu-ray picks.

Posted on April 1, 2011

fatguysatthemovies_banner

This Week: Neil and Kevin say farewell to the Fat Guys at the Movies podcast after receiving an offer to co-write the new script for The Justice League. In their farewell show, they say good-bye to old friends and new before hosting a massive toga party for the entire blogosphere. Neither has seen any of the movies this week because that’s how they roll, but they do offer an appropriate Fat Guy Five as well as hand out their favorite DVD and Blu-ray (and VHS) picks of all time.

Episode 207 – With Apologies to Splinter

Posted on March 24, 2011

fatguysatthemovies_banner

This Week: Kevin welcomes Rudie Obias from Gordon and the Whale into the Magical Studio in the Sky. Even though Kevin hasn’t seen any of the films this week (with no thanks to the studios, who didn’t screen them anywhere in his state), he’s able to talk about them. Rudie takes a look at the kick-ass nature of Sucker Punch while Kevin tries to explain the appeal of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Together they chat about box office, the state of 3D versus ticket price, DVD picks and a look at five fun films (and film series) aimed at the 14-year-old boy in all of us.

Episode 206 – Back to Boobs

Posted on March 17, 2011

fatguysatthemovies_banner

This Week: While Neil is hobnobbing with celebrities and indie rock chicks at the South by Southwest Film Festival, Kevin invites Grae Drake from The Popcorn Mafia Podcast into the Magical Studio in the Sky. And while some shows get derailed, this episode never quite makes it on the track. Sure, they talk about the new movies – including The Lincoln Lawyer, Paul, Limitless and Bereavement, they also talk about bizarre topics including Rebecca Black’s “Friday,” perverted Superman, face-licking and, of coures, boobs.

Episode 205 – Doctor of Extreme Lactation

Posted on March 10, 2011

fatguysatthemovies_banner

This Week: Kevin was feeling a bit under the weather, so he called in Dr. Cole Abaius from Film School Rejects and Reject Radio to make a house call to the Magical Studio in the Sky. While there, Dr. Abaius stuck around to talk about the latest movies, extreme female lactation, full-grown live human births, The Mountains of Madness, Red State and why box office pundits are like political scientists. There’s an alarmingly cogent disucssion of Hollywood trends and box office, but Kevin makes sure to derail it all with a quip about Drew Barrymore. After a brief Fat Guy Five, the good Doctor and his chubby sidekick lay down some DVD and Blu-ray reviews. Hoo-rah!

Posted on March 3, 2011

fatguysatthemovies_banner

This Week: Hot off the Oscars, Kevin invites his Idiot Boxers co-host Merrill Barr into the Magical Studio in the Sky to record Fat Guys Proper. Together, they rehash their thoughts on the Oscar wins while Merrill rages about David Fincher getting snubbed. Then they rip through four movie reviews post haste. The infamous middle segment gets a swearing Merrill and some box office analysis. Kevin once again defends 3D before they answer a voice mail and lay down a Fat Guy Five about westerns. Finally, the Idiot Fat Guys round up the DVDs and send you off into the wilderness.
