Another Disney classic from the 70s gets a Blu-ray release, this time along with its theatrical sequel. “The Rescuers” gets a 35th anniversary treatment, telling the story of two mice who work at the Rescue Aid Society. Voiced by Bob Newhart and Eva Gabor, the mice Bernard and Bianca head to the Louisiana swamp to rescue a girl who has been kidnapped. Also packaged with this film is the 1990 theatrical film “The Rescuers Down Under” which sees Bernard and Bianca heading to Australia for another mission.

“The Rescuers” holds a special place in my heart because it’s one of the earlier films I remember seeing. It’s a sweet story that has the more rustic feel of 70s Disney animation, which is strangely appealing to me. It’s rough and not quite as refined as the classics like “Cinderella,” but it’s a fun time, made at a time where Disney was trying to figure out where it was going in terms of animation.

The package contains the DVDs of the two separate films along with some special features that are all mirrored on the Blu-ray itself. The bonus materials include the deleted song “Peoplitis,” a Silly Symphony short “The Three Blind Mouseketeers,” the Disney true-life adventure “Water Birds,” a sing-along to “Someone’s Waiting for You” and “The Making of The Rescuers Down Under.”

Hello I Just bought this item bluray plus dvd the first movie is the greatest for the animation and story but the second is more a sequel than a great movie we don’t feel the emotions from the first and there’s not the deleted song Peolitis as a bonus but there is a commercial with Timon and Pumba the characters from the Lion King instead.
