Kevin and Merrill return for a more somber visit to the Magical Studio in the Sky. Nothing depressing, of course. They’re just exhausted from the holidays. They talk about their vision for the new year, both good and bad. They also discuss the finer points about where to keep loose change and why live television can be a living hell. Kevin shares an old story about crossing paths with Jamie Kennedy, and Merrill teases about a super-duper secret project and how it will change life as we know it. Oh, snap!

This Week: Kevin and Kristin dust off the debris from the holidays and get back to the grind of work for the first show of 2013. They kick off the year by discussing two award films and one decidedly not-award film: Texas Chainsaw 3D, Promised Land and The Impossible. (You’ll have to guess which one isn’t up for any awards.) They also chat about Kevin’s insane projects for 2013, including his beefcake calender, as well as come up with some new Christmas traditions to start next year. Finally, they wrap things up with some DVD and Blu-ray ideas for gift-card purchases before saying good-bye for another week.

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 48

In this very special episode: The Idiots ring in the new year by pushing through the January slump. They share their holiday stories – from Merrill’s very traditional Jewish-Japanese sushi sandwich to Kevin’s undying love for roast pork and sour kraut. Kevin gets called out on his RottenTomatoes reviews while Merrill reports on his anthropological studies of Long Island high school girls coordinating the pumping of overpriced gas. Later, the Idiots talk TV news (which seems heavily weighted towards An American Horror Story) and later chat about what they watched. Then it’s on to DVD suggestions and Idiot Recommendations before signing off for another two weeks.

On This Week’s Show: As 2010 rolls to a close, the Fat Guys roll into the Magical Studio in the Sky, braving phlegm and other ailments to talk about the best and worst of the year and maybe review a movie or two. They stutter their way through a review of The King’s Speech and also get nasty-sexy with a review of Blue Valentine. Then in the infamous third segment, the Fat Guys respond to an irate listener voice mail before talking about their picks for best and worst of 2010. All of this is wrapped up in the final minutes of 2010 with some of the most lackluster DVD and Blu-ray picks in months. Should old acquaintance be forgot… Bring on 2011!
