This Week: As Halloween swings into full gear, Kevin goes to war with men, women & children. He also goes to war against internet movie news journalism and non-news being reported about comic book movies. After sampling some trailers, he rolls into the reviews, covering The Book of Life, The Best of Me, Fury, Men Women & Children and St. Vincent. Finally, he works himself up over the box office and DVDs before checking out for his weekend at the 24-hour horror movie marathon! Boo!

Episode 386 – It’s My Job to Say This Is Crap!

Posted on September 12, 2014

fatguysatthemovies2_banner

This Week: Kevin pulls back the veil on his swanky job as a movie reviewer and gives the audience some keen insight on what happens when a studio doesn’t want an audience to see its movie (cough… cough… No Good Deed). He also talks about how smaller independent companies market their movies that have a proven track record of audiences staying away (cough… cough… Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt?). And then there’s reviews of The Drop, Dolphin Tale 2 and Life After Beth as well. Kevin also talks movie news (mostly superhero stuff), eulogizes Richard Kiel, answers another listener question, looks at new trailers, examines last week’s box office and recommends some DVDs and Blu-rays.

Posted on August 8, 2014

fatguysatthemovies2_banner

This Week: Kevin shows off his ninja movie reviewing skillz by chopping through the August sewer of bad movies. First, he talks about some superhero news and reacts to so many DC and Marvel movies coming out. Then, he looks at the new trailers for the week. Finally, he rattles through the new releases, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Hundred-Foot Journey, Into the Storm, Step Up: All In and After. Later in the show, he congratulates Guardians of the Galaxy (which he contends is nothing like Firefly) for its record-breaking box office, then talks about the DVDs available this week.

Episode 380 – Two Chewbaccas!

Posted on August 1, 2014

fatguysatthemovies2_banner

This Week: Kevin takes aim at a couple things in this episode, namely backwards-minded studios who still think that reviewers only have an audience in the city where they live. But before his rants about that, he talks about some news and moves into the reviews of Guardians of the Galaxy, Get on Up, I Origins, Life Itself and the ambitious but disappointing Boyhood. Kevin also ponders whether dumb action movies with women are still okay for feminism and what you can pick up on DVD and Blu-ray this week.

Episode 379 – I Like to Have Sex in the Movies

Posted on July 25, 2014

fatguysatthemovies2_banner

This Week: Kevin gets set to offend the women in the audience for dissing the new trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey. For good measure, he also has a few things to say about the trailer for Dear White People just in case there aren’t enough people mad at him. But first, he explains why he doesn’t go to the San Diego Comic-Con, then talks about some news from the event. Later, he reviews the new movies Hercules, Lucy, And So It Goes and Wish I Was Here before also giving his final thoughts on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Then, he’s left with box office and the DVD Round-Up before riding off into the sunset.

Episode 372 – Oh My God on Game of Thrones!

Posted on June 6, 2014

fatguysatthemovies2_banner

This Week: Death and pestilence comes to the Magical Studio in the Sky! Fortunately, Kevin has beaten back the pestilence and is now fighting the good fight with a raspy Demi Moore voice and no shirt. But there’s nothing to do about the death, which is inherent in almost all of the movies this week: Edge of Tomorrow, The Fault of Our Stars, Obvious Child, The Sacrament and Anna! It’s only Burt’s Buzz that keeps things light and fluffy. Kevin talks oodles of Star Wars and superhero news before later rattling off some sure-to-be genius box office predictions and the world-famous DVD Round-Up!

This Week: Kevin reminds the audience about how sexy he is and how he is an American hero with rippling muscles and a genius brain. He proves this by deeply analyzing the finale of How I Met Your Mother before looking at some upcoming trailers. Then he breaks out reviews for Captain America: The Winter Solider, Nymphomaniac: Volume II, In the Blood and Alan Partridge: The Movie. He also brushes past Island of Lemurs: Madagascar before giving his genius box office predictions and rustling the DVD Round-Up!
