In Defense of Physical Media

I love the modern streaming technology. I really do. The level of technology available today offers direct downloadable movies that you can watch literally with a push of a button. In this race to instant video gratification, many people are finding options to sell off their old movies. This is always a nice way to happen into some quick cash – especially if you have a large library you’re looking to unload – but I’ll always have a soft spot for a shelf packed with DVDs and Blu-rays.

OSNAP: Don’t Bring It In Wet
Kevin and Merrill return to the Magical Studio in the Sky for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner. After champagne and strawberries, they hop into a loveable discussion about topics like the Nemo snowstorm, circumcision, the Pope and shawarma. Merrill then tells the epic story of how he had to fight off stoned orcs at a Best Buy early in the morning to get a new computer. Then Kevin goes on an inside-baseball rant about the slumping world of physical media and how publicists haven’t caught up to the nature of freelancers and online journalists. Sure, that’s a bit dry for the show, and it’s not about poop and porn, but the Dude endures. Oh, snap!

OSNAP: Sandy, That Bitch!
This week on OSNAP, Kevin and Merrill are ducking and weaving from Mother Nature, avoiding the impact of the Frankenstorm known as Sandy. (Seriously, a deadly Frankenstorm with such a pretty little name?) They record their first annual Halloween episode early, and pretty much talk about the weather. They also talk about how Merrill’s dog is able to outsmart every member of his family. Kevin ties the conversation to South Park twice, bemoaning the current netherworld between physical media and streaming awesomeness. He also makes a shocking comment about Christina Hendricks’ boobs. Merrill tells another bullying story from his youth, and Kevin uncovers yet another sign of the apocalypse via RottenTomatoes.com. Oh, snap!
