Don Hahn, producer for The Lion King, answered some questions about the making-of the film, available on 3D Blu-ray, DVD and Blu-ray on October 4.
Q: What’s the main difference between a classical animation movie (The Lion King) and something like Frankenweenie?
Don Hahn: All animation techniques are about bringing inanimate objects to life to tell a story. The main difference between The Lion King and Frankenweenie is that The Lion King is a hand drawn movie, 24 drawings per second. A stop motion puppet film like Frankenweenie is done with articulated puppets that are moved by an animator 24 times a second. They are both great techniques!

This Week: Kevin invites Amy from Night at the Living Podcast into the Magical Studio in the Sky to set things right… namely the raunchiness that has been missing in the Internet-only segment. But before they lay down the dirty jokes, they talk a bit about Bad Teacher and the Cars movies. They also respond to a listener question about the odiouis Tracy Morgan and another listener voice mail. Finally, both Ohio folks, Kevin and Amy chat about the weird nether-regions surrounding Cincinnati and how wacky the strip clubs are around there. Yup, that kind of show is back!

This Week: Kevin brings a new guest to the Magical Studio in the Sky… Freddy Morris from Night of the Living Pocast. They put on some bandanas and each grab a cutlass to talk about the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie as well as give a retrospective of the first three films. Freddy gives the lowdown on some bizarre horror films while Kevin explains the notorious origins of his Words With Friends screen name. Then, after a barrage of predictably off-color jokes about Jodie Foster’s Beaver, they sandwich in a slice of love for Disney between even more off-color discussions of feces and pornography. It’s typical Fat Guys banter, which ends with some DVD recommendations. Arrrrrgh!
