The Idiot Boxers – Episode 57

Posted on May 14, 2012

In this very special episode: It’s winding down through May sweeps, and there’s tons of renewal, cancellation and pick-up news. So the Idiots have a busy time ahead of them. But that doesn’t stop them from getting sidetracked about The Avengers and other summer movies. A surprisingly grumpy Kevin also rants about TIME Magazine’s breastfeeding cover and also complains about Mother’s Day. The Idiots talk about a selection of new shows coming in the fall as well as the peculiarities of some shows that were renewed or canceled. Then they chat about a few shows they’ve been watching before throwing out some DVD recommendations and an impromptu Sound-Off by Kevin. (Don’t worry… he’s done talking about breastfeeding for the episode.)

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 45

Posted on November 21, 2011

In this very special episode: It’s November sweeps, and the Idiots are damn tired of watching television. Merrill overdosed on pretty much every program he follows while Kevin mistakenly swept all the rooms in his house. The Idiots chat about disasters in The Cheesecake Factory and the new Twilight movie. Then they launch into plenty of TV news before running down the shows. After a meaty segment about the good shows on TV, they head into the Sound-Off segment and the DVD recommendations. Then they quickly race out of the Magical Studio in the Sky so they can get ready for Turkey Day coming up this week.

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 38

Posted on August 15, 2011

In this very special episode: Kevin begins the show in his fall-back position… he snacks loudly while Merrill tries to talk about television. The sugar wafers call him throughout the episode, and he becomes more and more hungry in spite of snacking. The Idiots talk about what rocked on television and when certain shows are in danger of jumping the shark. Then they break down a list of TV news, including some juicy coverage of renewal and cancellation tidbits. Then, it’s on to what sucked before sounding off about new ratings and reality TV. Finally, the show wraps up with DVDs and a barbaric recommendation.

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 37

Posted on August 1, 2011

In this very special episode: The Idiots start out bemoaning the most recent live-tweet, the Nicolas Cage crapfest known as The Wicker Man. Later, Kevin does his artful impression of Merrill, and later extrapolates how they both sound to the audience. There’s promises of taking Merrill to a strip club and maybe a pie in the face during the Late-Night Chat Room. Oh, and the Idiots also take some time to talk about what rocked and what sucked on television these past two weeks. Then more shenanigans with child molestation on Diff’rent Strokes, DVD recap and an Idiot Recommendation.

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 36

Posted on July 18, 2011

In this very special episode: Kevin returns from his vacation sunburned and grumpy. Merrill welcomes him back with a signed photo of that hot British chick from Transformers: Turn Off the Dark of the Moon. They catch up, then head into the summer shows with what sucked and what rocked… with a few surprises along the way. Then they talk about TV news, including the Emmy nominations with shows that neither of them watch. Finally, Merrill breaks Kevin’s brain with his Sound Off before moving into DVD releases and Idiot Recommendations.

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 34

Posted on June 20, 2011

In this very special episode: Even though the early weeks of summer have left the Idiots with fewer options to watch, they have plenty to talk about in this episode. After some early shenanigans which include Amanda Seyfreid’s breasts and Merrill’s escort ads on Craigslist, the Idiots get down with their reviews of the current shows, including a look at the new TNT drama Falling Skies. Of course, things soon deteriorate in the episode as Kevin tells Walt Flanigan and a pot-smoking, chubby filmmaker what they can do with themselves. Later, Merrill actually complains about Flashpoint, and Kevin takes aim at fraudulant criminals in Extreme Couponing.

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 15

Posted on September 27, 2010

In this very special episode: Hey, hey! It’s premiere week at the Magical Studio in the Sky, and the Idiot Boxers have been furiously at work catching up on all the new television shows. They crank out the longest first segment in the history of the show, which we will refer to as $#i! That Merrill Likes. Have no fear, they drop the infamous Sound Off segment to keep things brief and also get into a couple fights about new shows and old. Oh, and a surprising amount of love for the CW shows this week. Go figure.

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 14

Posted on September 13, 2010

In this very special episode: The Idiot Boxers continue their streak of irritating each other. Merrill desperately attempts to be professional, but Kevin’s plans to derail the show prevail. Yet they manage to get through all their TV watching with minimal talk of Flashpoint and a healthy dose of TV news in which Kevin gets in touch with his feminine side. Kevin also manages to rip on Michael Bay while Merrill tries to educate the listeners to the finer points of product placement.

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 12

Posted on August 16, 2010

In this very special episode: There have been major changes to The Idiot Boxers podcast. The review segments have been shifted around, focusing more on what the Idiots thought rocked and what they thought sucked. This (and an alleged kidnapping of Merrill and Kevin) led to a summer hiatus for the past month, but the Idiots are back on the couch, ready to talk TV. And yes, surprise surprise, Merrill is going to talk about Flashpoint this week. They also cover such diverse subjects as college evangelists, masturbation, Asian subtitles and what Kevin wants to do to Piper Perabo’s caboose.

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 11

Posted on July 19, 2010

In this very special episode: In revenge for Kevin’s devotion to The Greatest American Hero theme song on the last episode, Merrill launches into full-force “I Love FlashPoint” mode, complete with music and everything. The Idiots give nods to recent interviews with the FlashPoint creators as well as their very special Emmy special. Then they rattle through the slate of summer series, sound off on different topics and lay down some Idiot Recommendations. Merrill, get a tissue!
