Episode 474 – Neo-Feminism in Movie Criticism

fatguysatthemovies2_banner

This Week: Kevin dives into hot water and takes on the neo-feminist film critics with a scathing rebuttal of why it’s not sexist to be skeptical of the new Ghostbusters and later why Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising isn’t anything to be proud of. He also looks at other new movies like The Angry Birds Movie, A Bigger Splash and The Nice Guys. Finally, he dissects who is really at fault for the shake-up at DC and Warner Bros., and eventually offers his take on this week’s box office and some home cinema recommendations.

Wouldst Thou Like to Drink Deliciously?: “The Witch” Drinking Game

thewitch_drinkingames

Earlier this winter, Robert Eggers’ tale of New England horror “The Witch” hit theaters. With a story culled from primary source accounts of witches in the 1600s, “The Witch” became an instant classic of slow-burn atmosphere, paranoia and overbearing religious practice.

Unfortunately, it also became famous for revealing the jerks in the theater who couldn’t shut up during the deliberately-paced, unconventional film. Now, “The Witch” is available on Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand, which allows you to watch it with total control of your environment. It also means that you can watch it and not have to pay exorbitant prices for alcohol at your local theater-turned-bar.

And now, to cover our butts… This game is only for people over the age of 21. Please drink responsibly, and remember that Black Phillip says you are wicked.

fatguysatthemovies2_banner

Later, he reviews The Darkness, Money Monster, High-Rise, The Man Who Knew Infinity and The Family Fang. Finally, he rounds out the show with a look at the box office and home cinema selections.
