FSR Associate Editor Brian Gibson returns as our special guest, only to take a severe beating from Kevin, causing him to lash out about Kevin’s lust for Judi Dench. Kevin also shows his age through his understanding of John Hughes movies. Eventually everyone calms down and movies are discussed, including Hot Fuzz, Fracture and Vacancy. We also play clips from our Exclusive Interview with David Arquette.

Back in 2003, I praised the film “28 Days Later” for taking the tired, traditional zombie movie into new territory. Sure, director Danny Boyle has gone on record saying that “28 Days Later” is not a zombie film. And in fact, I agree with him, but in principal, I do not. They may not be the walking dead, but they sure act like zombies.
For me, this was a huge improvement that zombie maven George A. Romero rejects. I found fast-moving zombies fascinating. There’s no doubt that “28 Days Later” left an indelible impact on the horror genre. Now, these more frisky zombies are more prevalent than the lumbering monsters of yesteryear. Simple put, they make great cinema.
The upcoming release of “28 Weeks Later” is something I am looking forward to with great anticipation. To help quench fans’ thirst for more rage stories, Fox Atomic has released the graphic novel “28 Days Later: The Aftermath,” written by Steve Niles with art by Dennis Calero, Diego Olmos and Nat Jones.

An Interview with Josh Hutcherson, star of “Firehouse Dog”
BY KEVIN CARR
Excepts from the interview follow. To hear the entire interview, click here.
7M: TELL US ABOUT FIREHOUSE DOG?
Firehouse Dog is about this dog who is a movie star. He can do all these cool, awesome stunts for these movies. One day, he gets lost doing a stunt, and he comes into my life and starts to cause all these problems, and through the movie we start to build a relationship together.
7M: DID THE DOG STEAL THE SPOTLIGHT?
He did steal the spotlight. Everybody wanted to love and pet the dog. He was great. There were actually four dogs that play the character of Rexxx. And each one of the dog had its own different attributes. One could jump really high, the other could run fast. One could look at marks, and one could speak.
7M: DID YOU DO THE TRICKS?
We had about a two week period before we started shooting where I had time to get used to being around the dogs and the trainers. There were a couple times during the movie that were too wide of a shot and the trainers couldn’t be too close to tell a dog what to do. So I had to tell it to sit or help it stay on a certain mark.

What’s better than watching Roger Ebert talk about movies on TV? Listening to two Fat Guys from Film School Rejects spout off about movies in the comfort of your own office, car or even your bedroom (if you are Jessica Biel, that is. She listens to our show in the nude.) Today we are proud to bring you Episode 1 of our NEW Podcast, Fat Guys at the Movies. Hosted by Kevin Carr of 7m Pictures and myself, Neil Miller, Fat Guys at the Movies is a revolution in film criticism. If you are sick of all of the stuffy, snobby film critics who drone on and on about film theory and artsy-fartsy films or you can’t handle the random fanboy blogging from his mom’s basement, then we are your cure.
This Week’s Episode: Welcome to the Program!
On this week’s show, we will review this weekends feature releases: Blades of Glory, starring Will Ferrell and Jon Heder; The Lookout, starring Joseph Gordon Levitt; and the Disney animated flick Meet the Robinsons. We also talk about what is hot right now on DVD, who is making News in the movie business and which trailers are getting us all jacked up for the summer movie season!
To read our full print reviews of each film, please use the links below:
