Fat Guy 5: Five Hilarious Movie Deaths

This week, for the Fat Guy 5, we take a break from superhero movies. After all, there are plenty of lists out there about best superhero movies, superheroes who can kick ass and why Kick-Ass is the most awesomest fanboy film since Watchmen. Instead, the Fat Guys have broken with the status quo and are delivering a Fat Guy 5 inspired by Death at a Funeral.

This new… er, sort of new film shows us that not only can death be funny, but death in a movie can be hilarious. And that got us thinking about some of the bests movie deaths around. The rest is history…

5. Brad Pitt in Meet Joe Black(1998)

It may be an awful thing to happen to someone in real life, but watching a character in a movie get hit by a bus, car or train just makes us giggle. And while this was supposed to be shocking, it was probably one of the funniest moments of the year when this film came out. (Also a quick shout out to Amanda Detmer’s death scene in the original Final Destination, which was almost as awesome.)

4. Lizzy Caplan in Cloverfield (2008)

We loves us some Lizzy Caplan, and even running from a huge American Godzilla monster, she’s just plain adorable. That is, until she succumbs to alien parasite death. Gross as hell and shocking in the film, but still funny. Yeah… it is still funny. (And a double-shout-out to LOST for a couple of unfortunate folks who handled unstable dynamite.)

3. Wallace Shawn in The Princess Bride (1987)

Just remember… Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

2. The Swordsman in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

What was to be a long, drawn-out fight scene was improvised into one of the funniest moments of the original Indiana Jones films.

1. The Magic Trick in The Dark Knight (2008)

Back in 2008, this topped our list of movie moments for the year, and it still gives us a chuckle now. This poor guy didn’t even have a line, and no one would recognize him on the street, but he contributed to a great death at the hands of Heath Ledger’s fantastic Joker.
