Fat Guy 5: Five Reasons Why Found Footage Should Be Lost

Posted on March 12, 2012

On This Episode: Because the last episode was such a runaway hit with fans and haters of Chronicle, Kevin decided to reunite with Steve “Gabe” Reeves in the Magical Studio in the Sky to sound off about the overuse of the found footage genre. They know it basically prints money for the studios, but Kevin and Steve are tired of the entire found footage nonsense. So, they list the five main reasons why the entire genre should be lost again.

Fat Guy 5: Five Reasons Why ‘Chronicle’ Sucks Ass

Posted on February 7, 2012

On This Episode: Kevin digs out the old Second Reel podcast and dusts it over, giving it a new coat of paint so it also works as a Fat Guy Five. After loathing the new film Chronicle, Kevin seeks out Steve “Gabe” Reeves, who also detested the film. Instead of finding diverse opinions on the subject (because, let’s face it… if you want to find Chronicle love, you can look at just about every other web site out there). Instead, they take the time to berate the film and rattle off the five reasons why it is turrible.

After all, there are plenty of lists out there about best superhero movies, superheroes who can kick ass and why Kick-Ass is the most awesomest fanboy film since Watchmen. Instead, the Fat Guys have broken with the status quo and are delivering a Fat Guy 5 inspired by Death at a Funeral.

This new… er, sort of new film shows us that not only can death be funny, but death in a movie can be hilarious. And that got us thinking about some of the bests movie deaths around. The rest is history…

Posted on April 10, 2010

Steve Carell and Tina Fey have teamed up to deliver a great date night movie, appropriately called Date Night. And that got us Fat Guys thinking while this movie is great for a real date night, there are plenty of film out there that are not.

So, as a public service, we have compiled a list of five movies you really don’t want to take a date to… unless they’re into that sort of thing.

Fat Guy 5: Five Characters We Wish Were Killed

Posted on April 6, 2010

With the release this week of yet another Nicholas Sparks movie, we now have learned the true formula. Take a forbidden summer romance, throw in some upper-class/lower-class tension and nice picturesque shots of Savannah’s beaches, and you’re only missing one thing…

Like any good horror movie, a Nicholas Sparks movie would not be complete without someone dying.

And that got us thinking… if only every movie was written by Nicholas Sparks, who would we have liked to see bite it in other films. What follows is a fun, but hardly definitive, Fat Guy Five list!
