7M: WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO WORK ON “DOLL GRAVEYARD”?
It was a hell of a lot of fun to make that film. It was the first bit of work that I got to do. Working with Charlie ended up being one of the neatest experience I’ve ever had. That was just a fun character. I enjoyed playing that real redeeming Stifler character.

7M: HAD YOU KNOWN ABOUT FULL MOON BEFORE AUDITIONING?
I had met Charlie for the callback audition, and I really didn’t know who the guy was. I knew what “Puppet Master” was and “Troll” and “Ghoulies,” but I wasn’t a horror aficionado like Charlie is. I didn’t know what to expect, and the thing exceeded my expectations a hundred fold. I got a new appreciation for this thing. Charlie didn’t pull any punches. His movies are what they are. They’re a lot of fun, and you get a kick out of them.

7M: TELL US ABOUT “THE GINGERDEAD MAN”
RS: It was an amazing experience. Charlie was great to work with. It was definitely a crazy movie about a crazy cookie. But it was really scary to do, in fact. I had nightmares while we were filming it of the cookie chasing me.

7M: HOW DID YOUGET INVOLVED?
RS: I got [the part] on a Friday. I got the script on a Sunday, and we started shooting on Monday. It was pretty quick. Which was good because it could keep me on my feet and in the moment.

Kristen Stewart Interview

THE MESSENGERSAn Interview with Kristen Stewart, star of “The Messengers”

BY KEVIN CARR

Kristen Stewart made a splash with her early feature, “Panic Room,” opposite Jodie Foster. Since the film’s release, she has been featured in many films in both starring and supporting roles. Her most recent film is “The Messengers,” a new horror picture from Hong Kong directors Danny and Oxide Pang (“The Eye”). Stewart took some time to speak with Kevin Carr about her upcoming feature and already extensive career.

Excepts from the interview follow. To hear the entire interview, click here.

7M: WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE FILM?
Initially, it was the filmmakers that were attached. I was really eager to work with them, Danny and Oxide Pang. I loved their movie “The Eye.” It’s eerie. It totally wigged me out.

7M: CONTRAST THE USE OF DAYLIGHT AND SUNLIGHT WITH THE DARKNESS IN THE FILM.
The setting of the film is really a classically American setting. It’s a jovial, beautiful sunflower farm. At the same time, these really incredibly terrifying, threatening occurrences are taking place every single day that this girl is there. We only had a few sequences that were actually outside. The inside of the house was really dark. Most of our horror sequences are in the basement and the cellar. The Pang brothers were involved in colors. They loved green. The whole house inside was really green toned.

Anthony Minghella Interview

"Breaking and Entering" New York Premiere - Red CarpetAn Interview with Anthony Minghella, director of “Breaking and Entering”

BY KEVIN CARR

Anthony Minghella is the Oscar-winning director of “Breaking and Entering.” Minghella’s latest film stars Jude Law, Juliette Binoche and Robin Wright Penn. It is a departure from his more recent films in that is the first original screenplay from Minghella since his debut, “Truly Madly Deeply.” It also is a relatively small, independent film rather than a sweeping period piece, making it a more intimate project for the award-winning director.

Excepts from the interview follow. To hear the entire interview, click here.

7M: WHAT IS THE THEME OF “BREAKING AND ENTERING”?
Let me tell you about how it came about, and maybe that will be a way of describing a theme. After the last original film I made, “Truly Madly Deeply,” I tried to write this movie called “Breaking and Entering.” The idea of it was to examine how a marriage was unraveled and repaired by a break-in. I had an idea about a couple coming home from a dinner party who found that their house had been burgled. And when they did an inventory, they discovered that things had been added. What had been added had been indicative of the problems in their marriage.

I could never quite write that film, and I put it to one side. And when I was making “Cold Mountain,” I was renovating an office in London at the same time, and that office was hostage to several burglaries, and it reminded me of this idea.

If it has any theme, it is that sometimes things need to be broken before they can be fixed. That some kind of damage is the antecedent of something healing, so that was where I began.

Luc Besson Interview

lucbessonAn Interview with Luc Besson, director of “Arthur and the Invisibles”

BY KEVIN CARR

Kevin Carr interviews Luc Besson, director of “Arthur and the Invisibles,” the new film which mixes live action with cutting-edge computer animation. While Besson is best known as the director of gritty action flicks like “La Femme Nikita” and “The Professional,” he takes a diversion from his usual fare to put together a children’s movie.

7M: WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO ADAPT A BOOK THAT YOU WROTE?
Only a few people know that I started with the script and wrote the book a year later. That was a funny process to me. I started with the script which I do usually. About a year later, lots of people are asking me, “What are you doing?” And I figure it’s maybe a good idea to write the book so people could be more familiar with the world. When you see “Narnia” or “Lord of the Rings” or “Harry Potter,” the book doesn’t disturb the film. I think it’s the opposite. I think it helps the film because people can get involved. When the film arrives, people can confront their own imagination with mine.

7M: HAS IT COME FULL CIRCLE, THEN?
The process was so long that I can’t even remember exactly how we start. When we started, I had two kids, and now I have five.
