Posted on March 6, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil watch Watchmen and give their opinions about the most anticipated movie of 2009. Joining them in the Magical Virtual Studio in the Sky is Cole Abaius, the resident Watchmen aficionado at FilmSchoolRejects.com. Kevin tries to derail the episode by discussing the falling-in-love failures of The Bachelor and what a lousy president Allison Taylor is on 24, but Neil and Cole bring things back to the Watchmen spotlight because there’s nothing else coming out this week. Finally, Cole stuns everyone by declaring that this weekend will be another winner for Madea at the box office.

Films Reviewed this Week: Watchmen.

Episode 105 – Fat Fighters

Posted on February 27, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil suffer through another week of no screenings for the press, even though Neil secretly wants to see the Jonas Brothers concert in the theaters. The Fat Guys give their response to the Oscars and declare that they aren’t going to talk too much about Watchmen yet, and Kevin has the thick-headedness to say that Matthew Goode plays the Nite Owl. Go figure. They also discuss hot chicks from Scrubs who are also chubby chasers, as well as how effective neck beards are for getting the girls. What did you expect? These guys haven’t seen any movies this week.

Films Reviewed this Week: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and The Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience.

The Fat Guys offer their Oscar picks, including the potential upsets of the day while Kevin promises drastic consequences if WALL-E doesn’t win Best Animated Film. And finally, they discuss the ramifications of the long-awaited release of Fanboys.

Posted on February 13, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil hook up in the Virtual Magical Studio in the Sky once again before Neil heads down to Austin, Texas, for a lucrative life as an entertainment journalist. He even swears that he’ll buy a bicycle and become less fat. Kevin makes fun of Neil for his fear of scary movies, and Neil makes fun of Kevin for his acceptance of movies about shopaholics. On the show, Kevin announces the winners of the 2009 GAG Awards, and they both wish all their listeners a Happy Valentine’s Day.

Episode 102 – A Fat Guy Reunion of Sorts

Posted on February 6, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil finally returns to the Magical Studio in the Sky with stories from the land of milk and honey, otherwise known as the Sundance Film Festival. Kevin celebrates the return by berating him for only seeing one movie this week, although Neil defends himself because he saw 143 movies at the festival. They explore topics like Steve Martin filling Peter Sellers’ shoes, why Neil wants to buy Maggie Grace from an international slavery ring and how it seems the best scene this week featuring Dakota Fanning requires her to be drunk. And even though Kevin missed Neil greatly, he refuses to hug him without his shirt on, unlike those swishy pilots from the 80s classic Top Gun.

Episode 101 – A Fat Lotta Nothin’

Posted on January 30, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil has returned from Park City, but he’s decompressing from his fruitful Sundance trip. So Kristin Dreyer Kramer from NightsAndWeekends.com braved the Ohio snow and ice to make a trip to the Magical Studio in the Sky to join in this week’s fun. Too bad that inclement weather and certain studios’ refusal to screen films for critics resulted in Kevin and Kristin seeing no movies this week. Still, they had plenty to talk about, whether it be the most inappropriately shaped potato in human history or how bored they are with the Oscar nominations. Kristin also promises to get fatter or become a dude before here next guest hosting gig.

Episode 100 – A Fat Guy Centennial

Posted on January 22, 2009

On This Week’s Show: Neil is still schmoozing in Park City for the Sundance Film Festival, so Kevin is holding down the fort with guest host David Medsker from Bullz-eye.com. It’s a lighter week for movies, so in the midst of talking about werewolves, vampires and Brendan Fraser reading (ha! like he reads!), Kevin and David discuss what might happen to sexy tattoos in 40 or 50 years, TV girlfriends and Rhona Mitra’s lumpy knees. And it’s the 100th episode of Fat Guys at the Movies, so you have that to be happy about!

Posted on January 16, 2009

On This Week’s Show: Neil is hobnobbing around Park City, Utah with his flunkies, hoping to score some make-out moments with John Stamos or Garry Shandling. So, Kevin is left in the Magical Studio in the Sky with special guest host Kristin Dreyer Kramer from NightsAndWeekends.com. Together they take a look at the infamous (and dare we say Notorious) January releases. They also vent about Megan Fox, Mickey Rourke and the Golden Globes while welcoming back another guest appearance by the Neil Miller Sock Puppet mascot. And Kristin is afraid that she is being stalked by a guy in a blaze-orange coat. Eeek!

Episode 98 – Get Your Unborn Fat Guys Off My Lawn!

Posted on January 9, 2009

On This Week’s Show: Neil is sick, but Kevin still makes him do the show in the Virtual Studio in the Sky. They had a week off for the holidays, so now the Fat Guys get ready for the January releases and recap what they thought was the best of 2008. Kevin is also stunned at the fact that porn star Katie Morgan has seen him naked on the Internet. The boys drool over Odette Yustman and complain about Tyler Perry wannabes and 4 1/2 award movies like Che. But most of all, they want you to get off their lawn!

Episode 97 – The Big, Fat Christmas Special!

Posted on December 24, 2008

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil bring on the fruitcake with their big, fat Christmas special. They question the correlation between Nazis and Christmas with the release of Valkyrie and The Spirit. With the huge slate of releases this week, it’s a flurry of movie reviews before choosing their favorite DVD picks from the product sent to them by the studios to review. Just consider yourself lucky if you receive an unopened DVD from Neil this week.

Episode 96 – The Tale of Seven Hundred Pound Fat Men

Posted on December 18, 2008

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil wind down through a massive month of movies, commenting on everything from characters’ heart conditions to tattooed strippers past their prime (but still fun to watch). Kevin laughs at Neil, who has offended one of their biggest fans… twice. They take some swipes at Will Smith, try to figure out the connection between big-eared mice and soup, and they welcome Jim Carrey back from the brink of The Number 23. Kevin bemoans the fact that he contributed a significant sum to the weekend box office of Delgo, and Neil defends his ambiguously gay DVD picks of the week.

Episode 95 – Faatu Barada Nikto

Posted on December 11, 2008

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil are overwhelmed with the impending awards season, feverishly trying to watch all the films at press screenings and on studio-provided DVDs. They know this makes you jealous, but such is the life of illustrious film critics. Kevin declares that the role of Klaatu is perfect for Keanu. Neil refuses to see the family holiday dysfunction film of the week. No one even cares about Delgo and Neil only made it half-way through Slumdog Millionaire. They also weigh in on the recent Golden Globe nominations and declare it officially awesome that Tropic Thunder and In Bruges received a couple nods.

Films Reviewed this Week: The Day the Earth Stood Still, Nothing Like the Holidays, Delgo, Slumdog Millionaire and Wendy and Lucy.
