Episode 121 – Revenge of the Fattened

Posted on June 25, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil hoses down the Magical Studio in the Sky with bodily fluids and testosterone after watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen not once, but twice. Kevin tries to keep a level head while suffering through a review of My Sister’s Keeper. There’s a minor Fat Guy smackdown as Neil tries to justify his stalker-ish excitement for all things Michael Bay, but eventually he agrees with Kevin with his Jurassic Park analogy. Then they serve up a Fat Guy Five about movies that assault the senses. Awesome!

Films Reviewed this Week: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and My Sister’s Keeper.

Episode 120 – One Fat Proposal

Posted on June 19, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil say “Screw the new films!” and dive into a bed of controversy – Kevin for calling both Sarah Palin and David Letterman idiots and Neil for some racial comments we’re sure he’ll have to apologize for at some point. Oh, and they do talk a little bit about The Proposal and Year One. Later in the show, they unveil a Fat Guy Five about classic historical comedies, and Neil makes the case for Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb even though it was a contemporary comedy in the 60s. And the final answer has also been delivered as to whether Neil can do an effective Schwarzenegger impression.

Films Reviewed this Week: The Proposal and Year One.

Episode 119 – Imagine Fat

Posted on June 12, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: After a couple good weeks with at least one good movie to enjoy, Kevin and Neil hit the dog days of the cinematic summer. But at least Neil had a good weekend, and Kevin has some fun taking jabs at Neil’s manly prowess. The Fat Guys debate the ability of John Travolta to be a badass and wonder why Eddie Murphy is still making films. In that regard, they knock out a Fat Guy Five about the movies they wish Eddie Murphy hadn’t made, and Neil threatens to stab Kevin in the eyeballs.

Films Reviewed this Week: The Taking of Pelham 123 and Imagine That.

Episode 118 – Land of the Fat

Posted on June 5, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil continues his reign over Kevin by seeing more movies this week. However, Kevin doesn’t take this lying down and unleashes venom on Neil like dinosaur urine. (Trust me, this reference is relevant if you’ve seen Land of the Lost.) The Fat Guys spar like never before, with Neil zoning out periodically and Kevin defending the family film nature of certain movies. In the spirit of The Hangover, they also unleash a new Fat Guy Five: Five Great Movies About Las Vegas. Still, no one saw My Life in Ruins, and no one seems upset by that.

Films Reviewed this Week: Land of the Lost and The Hangover. My Life In Ruins is previewed and ridiculed.

Episode 117 – Drag My Fat Butt Up to Hell

Posted on May 29, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: The unprecedented has happened in the Magical Studio in the Sky. Not only has Neil seen as many movies this week as Kevin, but they also seem to agree on everything. Surely, this is a sign of the apocalypse. In celebration of this blue moon event, Kevin and Neil provide not one, but two Fat Guy Fives, also in honor of two vastly different films in the theaters this week. But have no fear. Kevin and Neil will be back with fighting words next week.

Posted on May 22, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil and Kevin wage war on the machines… and McG with some scathing analysis of Terminator: Salvation. Then they move onto the movies that Neil hasn’t seen: Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and Dance Flick. They also give some love for DVDs, tease the audience with an upcoming interview with William Sanderson from HBO’s True Blood and lay out a Fat Guy Five – sequels that should have never been made!

Posted on May 15, 2009

On This Week’s Show: Neil and Kevin stumble into the Magical Studio in the Sky, completely unprepared for the show. But at least they have both seen this week’s movies, Angels & Demons and Big Man Japan. They procede to gush over the DVD picks this week, revisiting some love for all things Star Trek. They continue with a Fat Guys Five, detailing five sequels that were better than the original. Shalhoub.

On This Week’s Show: Neil and Kevin go completely ga-ga over the new Star Trek movie, singing praises to J.J. Abrams and the gang. Neil also laments the fact that he now has to start reviewing movies again while Kevin gives us his take on Next Day Air. The Fat Guys also weigh in on last week’s number one film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine before moving along the a new Fat Guy Five, offering their suggestions for the best Trek films before the reboot. And they completely forget to mention that the last four digits of the Fat Guys telephone number spell “TREK.”

On This Week’s Show: Neil protests the late screenings of Wolverine by not seeing any movies this week. Kevin brings his son Liam on the show so he can actually talk to someone who has seen a film this week. Neil also sings praises for Kevin for moving into the Internet 2.0 generation with his newfound Twitter account. The Fat Guys ring in the summer movie season with a Fat Guy Five – The Most Anticipated Films of Summer, while Kevin risks a backlash of political correctness by explaining why he thinks Obsessed with Beyonkadonk did so well last week. Plus, Kevin gets a wicked-cool ride in the UP balloon chair.

Posted on April 24, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil leads a protest against the studios by refusing to see any of the movies out this week. Kevin suffers through The Soloist while he takes his kids to work (i.e., gets them out of school to see a movie) on Take Your Child to Work Day. Liam and Ben Carr join their dad in the second segment to review Earth and a bunch of kids’ DVDs. Neil comes back to talk about the movies we weren’t allowed to see, and the Fat Guys threaten to get their knuckles bloody over whether Crank: High Voltage was a good movie or not.

Posted on April 17, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil has his tail between his legs because he hasn’t seen any movies this week, but he still maintains that he is awesome. Kevin enjoyed a nice dose of Zefron at the multiplex, then caught last-minute showings of State of Play and Crank: High Voltage. Guest film critic Chris Alexis from 7mpictures.com joins Kevin for a middle segment to spew out some hatred for Crank. Later in the show, Kevin sings praises for the cancellation of The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Neil gives some love to Inglorious Basterds. And everyone sighs when Zac Efron bats those baby blues.

Posted on April 10, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil comes out swinging, preparing to defend the good name of Observe and Report from Kevin’s bile. Meanwhile, Kevin defends Hannah Montana as best a fat guy can while neither of them have anything to say at all about Dragonball: Evolution. But all come together in praise of Anvil!: The Story of Anvil, which is declared to be the best new release of the week. Neil replays his G4 appearance by giving us the scoop of his sneak peek at the new Star Trek movie (aren’t you jealous?) while Kevin scoffs at the idea of Megan Fox playing She-Hulk.

Posted on April 2, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil reunite on the air via the Magical Studio in the Sky after a long spring break during which Kevin visited the FSR southern command in Austin, Texas. Kevin takes another step into the world of the interwebs by getting a FaceBook account for both himself and the show. (Hit Kevin up by searching kevin@filmschoolrejects.com on FaceBook and become a friend of the show!) The Fat Guys bemoan the fact that certain studios have been withholding screenings of their films, while Neil unleashes a fit of rage against the quirky indie comedy Gigantic. He’ll never look at his dear Zooey Deschanel the same again. Finally, Kevin invites Megan Fox to his house to play a stripper in his amateur video production.

Posted on March 20, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: With Neil hobnobbing at SXSW and getting swamped with festival coverage and all those awesome parties, Kevin punts the show with two special guests. Chris Alexis from 7mpictures.com joins him for three segments while from NightsAndWeekends.com comes on for one of the middle segments to review a couple films. Kevin lashes out against rape depictions on screen before getting Chris’s take on some recent movies – including all of the selections from last week and the superhero fizzle Watchmen.

Posted on March 13, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil admits to slacking on his movie-watching duties, but Kevin gives him a pass because there’s a lot of prep to be done for the SXSW Film Festival in Neil’s adopted home-town of Austin, TX. Kevin also brags about the fact that he finally broke down to the Apple cult and bought an iPhone. The Fat Guys talk about nudity (or some lack thereof) in the new film Miss March, how much Neil is a pansy for never seeing the original Last House on the Left and why Kevin convinces Neil that Race to Witch Mountain is something he might like. Also, bonus interview cuts in the third segment with Miss March directors/writers/co-stars Zach Cregger and Trevor Moore. Kevin asks the tough questions no one else does.
