On This Week’s Show: Neil gets embroiled in the fest known for being fantastic, so Kevin tracks down former guest-host Kelly Gingery from FlickChick.tv to join him in the Magical Studio in the Sky. Together, they sink their teeth into You Again and debate what they want to see in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Also, Kevin gushes over the new 3D CGI flick Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole while Kelly gushes over George Clooney (again!). Then they talk a bit about box office and lay down a Fat Guy Five that’s none too flattering to Jamie Lee Curtis.

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil makes his triumphant return to the Magical Studio in the Sky by not seeing any of the new films this week. Though he claims to have seen the trailers. Kevin weeps upon his arrival and then berates him for not seeing anything. Kevin also defends M. Night Shyamalan while Neil says really creepy things about Emma Stone. Out of protest, the Fat Guys get rid of the Alpha and Omega trailer before laying down a Fat Guy Five about actors-turned-directors.

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 14

Posted on September 13, 2010

In this very special episode: The Idiot Boxers continue their streak of irritating each other. Merrill desperately attempts to be professional, but Kevin’s plans to derail the show prevail. Yet they manage to get through all their TV watching with minimal talk of Flashpoint and a healthy dose of TV news in which Kevin gets in touch with his feminine side. Kevin also manages to rip on Michael Bay while Merrill tries to educate the listeners to the finer points of product placement.

Episode 179 – I’m Still Fat

Posted on September 10, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil is off on a sexually tryst with Jessica Alba (though it hasn’t been determined if she’s a willing participant), so Kevin welcomes Fozzie Bare back into the Magical Studio in the Sky to talk about movies that neither of them have seen (Resident Evil: Afterlife because Sony didn’t screen it for anyone and I’m Still Here which is screening late for Kevin). But the guys manage to talk about plenty of other things, including a quick preview of Catfish, giant eagles selling groceries out of vans, the 3D phenomenon, Hamlet, Kevin’s hate mail, The Room and crapping your pants. They also lay down a Fat Guy Five about their favorite movies that were not screened. And Kevin continually calls the new Resident Evil movie the Apocalypse instead of Afterlife.

Posted on September 2, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil is still bustling through his undisclosed location in preparation of Fantastic Fest, so Kevin invites Shannon Hood from FrothyGirlz.com to join him in the Magical Studio in the Sky. And there’s another unannounced surprise guest who makes an unscheduled appearance in the infamous third segment, utterly derailing the show. But Kevin and Shannon persevere, talking about Machete with the proper accent, Going the Distance with their thoughts on rom-coms and swooning over George Clooney in The American. Also, in honor of Danny Trejo, they lay down a Fat Guy Five about what it means to be a “that guy” in Hollywood. Oh, and Shannon gives us the scoop about Lindsay Lohan’s boobs.

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 13

Posted on August 30, 2010

In this very special episode: The Idiot Boxers return to their cage in the Magical Studio in the Sky to talk the latest TV shows. Merrill is giddy about yet irritated at the Emmys, while Kevin is completely confused and insisting that Heroes won best drama and Miley Cyrus was named Best Actress. The confusion is either from old age or the fact that Kevin is now employing the Neil Miller technique to his television viewing. And Merrill quietly accepts it like a trooper. The Idiots talk about what they thought rocked or sucked in the mostly USA Network slate of summer shows, chat about the Emmys and look ahead to a world of on-demand viewing of any and all television shows. And no talk about Flashpoint this week (well… almost).

Episode 177 – Sigh… It’s August

Posted on August 27, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: While Neil is busy transferring FSR HQ to a new, undisclosed location, Kevin invites Tim Buel from The Golden Briefcase into the Magical Studio in the Sky to help suffer through the August doldrums. They contemplate if an Avatar re-release is really necessary for just nine freaking minutes. Then, they contemplate the necessity for a film like Takers. Finally, they contemplate why Lionsgate didn’t widely screen The Last Exorcism for press. This leads to a surprisingly relevant box office discussion about Piranha 3D and its sequel-earning box office disappointment. Tim and Kevin also discuss the future of 3D and lay down a Fat Guy Five about their favorite Devils.

Episode 176 – Piranha McFatGuys Suck

Posted on August 19, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil go skinny-dipping in Lake Victoria, then scurry back to the Magical Studio in the Sky when they are attacked by a school of ancient piranhas. For this reason, they only saw two of the five movies that are being released this weekend. But that doesn’t stop them from talking about the flicks. Later, the Fat Guys talk about how Jason Friederg and Aaron Seltzer suck even more than vampires do, leading to a Fat Guy Five about Friedberg and Seltzer’s most out-of-place pop culture references. Then it’s DVD and Blu-ray suggestions, leading Kevin to recommend Cougar Town over Shakespeare. And Neil almost falls asleep.

The Idiot Boxers – Episode 12

Posted on August 16, 2010

In this very special episode: There have been major changes to The Idiot Boxers podcast. The review segments have been shifted around, focusing more on what the Idiots thought rocked and what they thought sucked. This (and an alleged kidnapping of Merrill and Kevin) led to a summer hiatus for the past month, but the Idiots are back on the couch, ready to talk TV. And yes, surprise surprise, Merrill is going to talk about Flashpoint this week. They also cover such diverse subjects as college evangelists, masturbation, Asian subtitles and what Kevin wants to do to Piper Perabo’s caboose.

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil returns from his hiatus, and Kevin returns from his vacation to take on the world… and Scott Pilgrim… and Julia Roberts… and Sylvester Stallone. The Fat Guys hit the ground running, reviewing the three new movies of the week and make predictions on if Scott Pilgrim will Bob-omb or not. They also choose the Expendables’ greatest hits for their Fat Guy Five and hand down some DVD and Blu-ray picks.

Posted on July 30, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil is busy this week, so Kevin invites Ryan Gallagher from CriterionCast.com to the Magical Studio in the Sky to talk about this week’s movies. They don’t fight like Cats & Dogs and sit down at a Dinner for Schmucks to try and figure out what the hell Charlie St. Cloud is about. Kevin also asks Ryan about his experiences at Comic-Con and how he used his vegan psychic powers to avoid getting stabbed in the eye in Hall H. They discuss the ratings system and whether PG-13 movies should warn about Santa Claus spoilers before throwing down a Fat Guy Five about good talking animal movies and handing down some DVD and Blu-ray picks.

Episode 173 – A Fat Lotta Nothin’ About Comic-Con

Posted on July 23, 2010

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil, neither of whom will be joining the other Film School Rejects at the 2010 Comic-Con, sit down and chew the fat about Angelina Jolie’s latest action picture, Salt. They also contemplate what Ramona and Beezus could be about. Then they move onto the glorious middle segment where they pretend to know something about the box office, hand down a Fat Guy Five and derail the show into a gory, bloody mess. They wrap things up finally with some DVD and Blu-ray suggestions, but we know that no one will by listening by the end anyway.

Then they rattle through the slate of summer series, sound off on different topics and lay down some Idiot Recommendations. Merrill, get a tissue!
