The Fat Guys also weigh in on last week’s number one film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine before moving along the a new Fat Guy Five, offering their suggestions for the best Trek films before the reboot. Neil also sings praises for Kevin for moving into the Internet 2.0 generation with his newfound Twitter account. The Fat Guys ring in the summer movie season with a Fat Guy Five – The Most Anticipated Films of Summer, while Kevin risks a backlash of political correctness by explaining why he thinks Obsessed with Beyonkadonk did so well last week. On This Week’s Show: Neil leads a protest against the studios by refusing to see any of the movies out this week. Kevin suffers through The Soloist while he takes his kids to work (i.e., gets them out of school to see a movie) on Take Your Child to Work Day. Liam and Ben Carr join their dad in the second segment to review Earth and a bunch of kids’ DVDs. Neil comes back to talk about the movies we weren’t allowed to see, and the Fat Guys threaten to get their knuckles bloody over whether Crank: High Voltage was a good movie or not.

Posted on April 17, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil has his tail between his legs because he hasn’t seen any movies this week, but he still maintains that he is awesome. Kevin enjoyed a nice dose of Zefron at the multiplex, then caught last-minute showings of State of Play and Crank: High Voltage. Guest film critic Chris Alexis from 7mpictures.com joins Kevin for a middle segment to spew out some hatred for Crank. Later in the show, Kevin sings praises for the cancellation of The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Neil gives some love to Inglorious Basterds. And everyone sighs when Zac Efron bats those baby blues.

Films Reviewed this Week: 17 Again, Crank: High Voltage and State of Play.

Posted on April 10, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil comes out swinging, preparing to defend the good name of Observe and Report from Kevin’s bile. Meanwhile, Kevin defends Hannah Montana as best a fat guy can while neither of them have anything to say at all about Dragonball: Evolution. But all come together in praise of Anvil!: The Story of Anvil, which is declared to be the best new release of the week. Neil replays his G4 appearance by giving us the scoop of his sneak peek at the new Star Trek movie (aren’t you jealous?) while Kevin scoffs at the idea of Megan Fox playing She-Hulk.

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil reunite on the air via the Magical Studio in the Sky after a long spring break during which Kevin visited the FSR southern command in Austin, Texas. Kevin takes another step into the world of the interwebs by getting a FaceBook account for both himself and the show. (Hit Kevin up by searching kevin@filmschoolrejects.com on FaceBook and become a friend of the show!) The Fat Guys bemoan the fact that certain studios have been withholding screenings of their films, while Neil unleashes a fit of rage against the quirky indie comedy Gigantic. He’ll never look at his dear Zooey Deschanel the same again. Finally, Kevin invites Megan Fox to his house to play a stripper in his amateur video production.

Posted on March 20, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: With Neil hobnobbing at SXSW and getting swamped with festival coverage and all those awesome parties, Kevin punts the show with two special guests. Chris Alexis from 7mpictures.com joins him for three segments while from NightsAndWeekends.com comes on for one of the middle segments to review a couple films. Kevin lashes out against rape depictions on screen before getting Chris’s take on some recent movies – including all of the selections from last week and the superhero fizzle Watchmen.

Posted on March 13, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil admits to slacking on his movie-watching duties, but Kevin gives him a pass because there’s a lot of prep to be done for the SXSW Film Festival in Neil’s adopted home-town of Austin, TX. Kevin also brags about the fact that he finally broke down to the Apple cult and bought an iPhone. The Fat Guys talk about nudity (or some lack thereof) in the new film Miss March, how much Neil is a pansy for never seeing the original Last House on the Left and why Kevin convinces Neil that Race to Witch Mountain is something he might like. Also, bonus interview cuts in the third segment with Miss March directors/writers/co-stars Zach Cregger and Trevor Moore. Kevin asks the tough questions no one else does.

Posted on March 6, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil watch Watchmen and give their opinions about the most anticipated movie of 2009. Joining them in the Magical Virtual Studio in the Sky is Cole Abaius, the resident Watchmen aficionado at FilmSchoolRejects.com. Kevin tries to derail the episode by discussing the falling-in-love failures of The Bachelor and what a lousy president Allison Taylor is on 24, but Neil and Cole bring things back to the Watchmen spotlight because there’s nothing else coming out this week. Finally, Cole stuns everyone by declaring that this weekend will be another winner for Madea at the box office.

Episode 105 – Fat Fighters

Posted on February 27, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil suffer through another week of no screenings for the press, even though Neil secretly wants to see the Jonas Brothers concert in the theaters. The Fat Guys give their response to the Oscars and declare that they aren’t going to talk too much about Watchmen yet, and Kevin has the thick-headedness to say that Matthew Goode plays the Nite Owl. Go figure. They also discuss hot chicks from Scrubs who are also chubby chasers, as well as how effective neck beards are for getting the girls. What did you expect? These guys haven’t seen any movies this week.

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil establish a permanent link in the Virtual Studio in the Sky as Neil sets his roots in sunny Austin, Texas. For the movies this week, Kevin waxes poetic about how awesome it is to watch cheerleader movies while both of them complain about how they never get to see Tyler Perry movies in advance. The Fat Guys offer their Oscar picks, including the potential upsets of the day while Kevin promises drastic consequences if WALL-E doesn’t win Best Animated Film. And finally, they discuss the ramifications of the long-awaited release of Fanboys.

Posted on February 13, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Kevin and Neil hook up in the Virtual Magical Studio in the Sky once again before Neil heads down to Austin, Texas, for a lucrative life as an entertainment journalist. He even swears that he’ll buy a bicycle and become less fat. Kevin makes fun of Neil for his fear of scary movies, and Neil makes fun of Kevin for his acceptance of movies about shopaholics. On the show, Kevin announces the winners of the 2009 GAG Awards, and they both wish all their listeners a Happy Valentine’s Day.

Posted on February 6, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil finally returns to the Magical Studio in the Sky with stories from the land of milk and honey, otherwise known as the Sundance Film Festival. Kevin celebrates the return by berating him for only seeing one movie this week, although Neil defends himself because he saw 143 movies at the festival. They explore topics like Steve Martin filling Peter Sellers’ shoes, why Neil wants to buy Maggie Grace from an international slavery ring and how it seems the best scene this week featuring Dakota Fanning requires her to be drunk. And even though Kevin missed Neil greatly, he refuses to hug him without his shirt on, unlike those swishy pilots from the 80s classic Top Gun.

Episode 101 – A Fat Lotta Nothin’

Posted on January 30, 2009

fatguysatthemovies_banner

On This Week’s Show: Neil has returned from Park City, but he’s decompressing from his fruitful Sundance trip. So Kristin Dreyer Kramer from NightsAndWeekends.com braved the Ohio snow and ice to make a trip to the Magical Studio in the Sky to join in this week’s fun. Too bad that inclement weather and certain studios’ refusal to screen films for critics resulted in Kevin and Kristin seeing no movies this week. Still, they had plenty to talk about, whether it be the most inappropriately shaped potato in human history or how bored they are with the Oscar nominations. Kristin also promises to get fatter or become a dude before here next guest hosting gig.

Episode 100 – A Fat Guy Centennial

Posted on January 22, 2009

On This Week’s Show: Neil is still schmoozing in Park City for the Sundance Film Festival, so Kevin is holding down the fort with guest host David Medsker from Bullz-eye.com. It’s a lighter week for movies, so in the midst of talking about werewolves, vampires and Brendan Fraser reading (ha! like he reads!), Kevin and David discuss what might happen to sexy tattoos in 40 or 50 years, TV girlfriends and Rhona Mitra’s lumpy knees. And it’s the 100th episode of Fat Guys at the Movies, so you have that to be happy about!
