Even though it did not do well in theatrical release, Pan is a fun and adventurous origin story for Peter Pan. Enjoy striking visuals and some fun (though some painfully over-the-top) performances. Bonus features include a commentary track, plus four featurettes: “Never Grow Up: The Legend of Pan,” “The Boy Who Would Be Pan,” “The Scoundrels of Neverland” and “Wonderous Realms.”

Easily the best Marvel movie of 2015, returning to the fun nature of the origin stories for lesser-known characters. Check it out in 3D for at-home viewing for an immersive experience and the best format for the shrinking effects. Bonus materials include oodles of behind-the-scenes featurettes, plus deleted scenes and audio commentary.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies – Extended Edition
Rated R
Studio: Warner Bros.
Formats available: 3D BD, BD, DVD, VOD
The extended version of the third Hobbit movie features 20 minutes of new footage, much of it R-rated battle scenes with plenty of blood and gore (though the rest of the movie appears unaltered in violence). Also worthwhile for the nine and a half hours of appendices to complete the Jackson extended edition experience.

The latest installment in the Terminator franchise revives the series with a return of Arnold Schwarzenegger and revamping Kyle Reese and Sarah Conner. More time travel makes the movie a little convoluted, and the presence of Jai Courtney isn’t a plus, but it’s still an enjoyable movie.

Pixar does it again with this brilliant animated film about a young girl’s emotions inside her head. It’s a great treat for the whole family and one of the best films of the year. (Bonus content includes shorts, multiple behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, commentary and trailers.)
