I am frankly somewhat surprised that “Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure” didn’t get a bundled release with the recent “Lady and the Tramp” Blu-ray. However, I’m okay with splitting them up. This is because I have a soft spot for “Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure,” which stems from my two oldest boys having an utter fascination with the film back when it was released on DVD in 2006.

My boys have since grown up a bit, but I still respect what the movie did for them. This film tells the story of Lady and Tramp’s son Scamp, who escapes his quaint home to get mixed up with a gang of junkyard dogs. When he tries to return home, one of the dogs seeks revenge on him for abandoning the pack.

This film is very typical of Disney direct-to-video sequels, but it’s got a bit of charm that saves it. It has a nice, short running time, and the focus on the dogs gives it a lot of interest for the children market. It’s not meant for the parents, so I still cannot deny the strong impression it made on my sons.

The new Blu-ray comes with the bonus features from the 2006 DVD, as well as the DVD disc for portability. special features include “Puppy Trivia Tracks,” “Sing-Along songs,” “The Making of Lady and the Tramp II: From Tramp to Scamp” as well as three bonus shorts with Pluto.
