This Week: Kevin is awash in love for George Lucas, so he sallies forth to see Red Tails, then an early peek at Haywire. After having a few hopes dashed, he invites Emily Intravia from DeadlyDollsHouse.com and Gleekast to join him to talk about the new movies of the week. They chew the fat about George Lucas hits and misses, Steven Soderbergh’s way of redefining a genre and why British actress Kate Beckinsale sounds like she’s doing a fake British accent in the Underworld movies. They also talk about the Oscar bait flick Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close before going into box office analysis and a special George Lucas Fat Guy Five.
In this episode, Hash and Merrill get crazy with whiteboards and Guy Richie films. And for the first time in Celluloid Spotlight history, the show doesn’t end when the lights go down.

This Week: The void of wide screenings of new releases continues as Kevin tries to weather a winter cold which makes him sound husky and sexy like Demi Moore. He invites Tim Buel from The Golden Briefcase into the Magical Studio in the Sky to chat about gospel plays, 3D retro animation and Marky Mark and the Contraband Bunch. They look at the new movies, then chat about the insanity of The Devil Inside donkey punching the box office. Later, they lay down a Fat Guy Five about what old movies should get a retroactive 3D treatment. Then they give out some DVD recommendations and head back out into the frozen screening wasteland of winter.
Kevin’s picks on DVD this week:The Scorpion King 3: The Battle for Redemption, Moneyball, Boardwalk Empire: The Complete First Season, There Be Dragons and What’s Your Number?
In this very special episode: The Idiots ring in the new year by pushing through the January slump. They share their holiday stories – from Merrill’s very traditional Jewish-Japanese sushi sandwich to Kevin’s undying love for roast pork and sour kraut. Kevin gets called out on his RottenTomatoes reviews while Merrill reports on his anthropological studies of Long Island high school girls coordinating the pumping of overpriced gas. Later, the Idiots talk TV news (which seems heavily weighted towards An American Horror Story) and later chat about what they watched. Then it’s on to DVD suggestions and Idiot Recommendations before signing off for another two weeks.
Rated R Opens: January 6, 2012 Studio: Paramount Insurge Starring: Fernanda Andrade, Simon Quarterman, Evan Helmuth, Ionut Grama and Suzan Crowley Directed by: William Brent Bell
