Idiot Boxers Review: Entourage, Ep: 7.05

TV review by Merrill Barr, co-host of The Idiot Boxers
Show: Entourage
Airs: HBO, Sundays, 10:30pm
Episode: “Bottoms Up”
Episode synopsis:During a night out, Vince hooks up with porn star Sasha Grey, and takes her to a meeting with Stan Lee. Ari tries to woo Jessica Simpson, Aaron Sorkin and Mike Tyson in an attempt to stop Lizzie from stealing his clients, as well as to find out who she’s working for. While he has some success, he is shocked to learn who Lizzie’s new boss is. Turtle pitches Eric about Vince becoming the face of his new venture. Drama gets angry when he learns that John Stamos gave his script to Bob Saget.
Major developments: Lizzie is now working for Amanda Daniels and apparently has keep track of all of Ari’s actions at the agency. Vince agreed to sponsor Turtle’s Tequila. Bob Saget has taken Drama’s part from him, and the writer is to blame.
What rocked: I like the addition of Sasha Grey to the crew, at least for now. She is that rare example of a porn star gone main stream. Granted, in this show she is playing herself, but I still like her cultural understanding being put up against Vince’s antics.
Ari’s story this episode wasn’t bad. It was just the usual Ari being Ari but that’s why people tune in for, so in that respect I’m fine with it. O, and any episode we get to see Perrey Reeves in sexy lingerie is a good episode in my book.
I also liked the little amount of screen time Turtle’s Tequila story line got. I am really enjoying the possibilities of Vince putting his face on a product could have for his career. It really could boost or possibly kill his career. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
What sucked: Drama’s story line sucked, and sucked hard. You can only stretch his character so thin. And we’re at the breaking point now. Either give him a show, or put him back in the pocket of Vince. But this cat and mouse game with him isn’t going to work anymore.
The anal sex story line was dumb. Just dumb. That face that they set the whole thing up at the top of the episode, to only give it a two minute gag at the end, I could of done with out it. I really don’t care if E has never had anal sex, and did anyone else for that matter?
Also, once again the entourage has zero contact with Ari. That is a problem for me. I don’t care what the excuse is but the writers need to find a way to work Ari back into the gang on a regular basis. Maybe Vince gets a calls from Michael Bay and he doesn’t want to do it because of the Aquaman situation, that would be the type of thing Ari could step in on.
Final thoughts: This was probably the best episode of the season, which doesn’t say much for the season as a whole.
What’s next: Facing a possible lawsuit, Ari readies himself to do battle with Lizzie and her new boss, old foe Amanda Daniels. Vince puts his next big-budget movie in jeopardy with his antics, including a risqué online video. Turtle’s romancing of Alex does not go as well as he’d envisioned. A cleaned-up Billy Walsh returns to ask Eric about directing jobs – and comes up with new show idea for Drama, who’s been wallowing in self-pity.
