Idiot Boxers Review: Flashpoint, Ep: 3.07

TV review by Merrill Barr, co-host of The Idiot Boxers
Show: Flashpoint
Airs: CBS, Fridays, 9pm
Episode: “Just A Man”
Episode synopsis: When a prison riot breaks out, it’s up to the SRU to not only defuse it, but to figure out the real reason why it started.
Major developments: Nothing, this was a bottle episode.
What rocked: I did like the way the one off character’s past tied in with Ed’s days as a patrolman. I always appreciate a dynamic like that. Also, it was great to see 24 alumni Roger R. Cross (Curtis Manning) on screen again. Yes, I know he has done some stuff on Chuck and NCIS since then but this one stood out. One of my favorite TV guest stars.
What sucked: Just about everything else. Compared to everything else we have seen this season, the episode was really weak. It lacked the real umf that the rest of the season has had. I really didn’t care about any of the hostages or the other prisoners getting killed left and right. Also, the action wasn’t that good. I mean, I always love seeing the SRU on screen doing their thing, but this episode needed work.
Final thoughts: A really mediocre episode of Flashpoint (I know, shocker) overall. It really could of used a better script.
What’s next: No idea…
