Idiot Boxers Review: Entourage, Ep: 7.04

TV review by Merrill Barr, co-host of The Idiot Boxers

Show: Entourage
Airs: HBO, Sundays, 10:30pm
Episode: “Tequila Sunrise”

Episode synopsis: E is starting to get sick of Scott undermining him at every turn and will do any to stop him. Drama meets with Stamos about the new show and Turtle heads to Mexico with Alex.

Major developments: Lizzie might be stealing clients from Ari, E and Scott work out their issues (maybe), Turtle is asked by Alex to take part in her friends Tequila business, and Stamos agrees to do Drama’s show.

What rocked: Drama’s story line during this episode was priceless. Him and the version of himself that Stamos was playing, were perfect together. Like awkward cousins who never see each other. It was rather hysterical to put that on the back drop of a ping pong game. I also liked Turtle’s twist story. Lets be honest, who wasn’t expecting Alex’s business to be heroine? But a legit Tequila business? I can totally get behind the possibilities that would bring to the show.

What sucked: E and Scott are starting to become Grey’s Anatomy level angsty. It’s really a turn for the worse for E’s character. The whole alpha male dichotomy that is being portrayed between E and Scott is just boring, mostly because that is what the relationship between Ari and E is for. Speaking of Ari, what makes Ari’s character fun to watch is his relationship with the actual entourage. But, we have gotten to the point where they don’t even interact anymore. Ari didn’t even mention Vince this episode. And I don’t wanna hear the excuse “well that makes it more realistic because Vince would be just another client to Ari.” But Vince isn’t just another client, he is his friend. Vince and the gang were there when it all went to hell for Ari. That kind of interaction is what I look forward to the most week after week. And now… Nothing. That has to change.

Final thoughts: This episode was the best of the season so far, but that isn’t saying much. This entire season has been rather mediocre and I put the blame solely on E and Ari.

What’s next: Eric is informed by Phil Yagoda (William Fichtner) that the network is interested in Drama’s show, though the star is not enthused about its content. In the wake of recent bad press, Ari attempts to fashion a kinder, gentler persona at work and home. When demand for Turtle’s tequila line outpaces production, he sets out to find new sources of funding. Vince tries to convince Sasha to turn down a high-paying offer to do another porn movie.
