TV review by Merrill Barr, co-host of The Idiot Boxers

Show: Burn Notice
Airs: USA, Thursdays, 9pm
Episode: “Neighborhood Watch”

Episode synopsis: While trying to track down an assassin, Michael is enlisted to get some really bad drug dealers to stop tormenting a local clinic.

Major developments: Michael and Sam track down the assassin from last week. But, Kendra isn’t gonna go quietly.

What rocked: At the top of the episode Michael is playing a game of cat and mouse and he’s the mouse. It was nice to him on the other side of a tail (at least unintentionally anyway). The pace at which the tale takes place is quick and clean, classic Burn Notice.

The show also had some great one lines like “this is just a harmless game of cat and mouse between me and a professional killer.” It was also fun to see Fiona get so jealous at the dialogues between Michael and Kendra, very charming to say the least.

Also, Team Weston’s flair for the dramatic is always finding a way to top itself. This time it took the form of an untrained doctor, some explosives and sniper rifles. Quite enjoyable and a heck of a scene to laugh at.

What sucked: The actress playing Kendra sucks, plain and simple. She is trying to do the whole bad ass Angelina Jolie chick thing but is failing, bad. She doesn’t have the real power that someone like Tricia Helfer did as Carla. Thank god Michael and Sam got to stuff her in a trunk at the end of the episode.

Also, this isn’t really a suck but more of a misuse, this episode saw the return of Michael’s old neighbor Sugar. You know, the guy he popped in the knee in the first episode. I liked the episode he had last season, but he was just pointless this time around. I was really looking forward to another Sugar episode but, I guess you can’t always get what you want.

Final thoughts: Kendra aside, a really well done episode of Burn Notice. Always fun to see the gang do their thing.
