Idiot Boxers Review: Flashpoint, Ep: 3.03

TV review by Merrill Barr, co-host of The Idiot Boxers
Show: Flashpoint
Airs: CBS, Fridays, 9pm
Episode: “The Farm”
Episode synopsis: While attempting to diffuse a hostage situation in a gas station convenience store, the SRU discovers a secret about the hostage taker that could lead to one of the teams deadliest standoffs to date.
Major developments: Nothing major happens in terms of the characters or the team as a whole. This is the case most of the time.
What rocked: Whenever a preocedural goes the route of putting one of its main cast in danger, whether it be having them get taken hostage or stepping on a land mine, it leads to some great television. Also, seeing Team Sergent Greg Parker finally get his hands dirty in the field is just great.
What sucked: I still can’t get behind the new girl on the team. It probably doesn’t help that she has a whole three minutes of air time to sell me.
Final thoughts: This episode is definitely up there with some of the better “bottle” episodes of Flashpoint. Great action, well written script, etc…
What’s next: When a mother kidnaps her two children, the SRU team most imploy a tactic the might do more harm then good.
