Idiot Boxers Review: Burn Notice, Ep: 4.04

TV review by Merrill Barr, co-host of The Idiot Boxers
Show: Burn Notice
Airs: USA, Thursdays, 9pm
Episode: “Breach of Faith”
Episode synopsis: While trying to find out more about the mystery man, Sam takes on a case that hits him where it hurts. Unfortunately, Michael gets caught in the line of fire and has to help Sam and the client get out of a hostage situation before the cops do it for him.
Major developments: Jesse and Fiona find an address to the man they have been chasing. Except, when Michael and Jesse break in at the end of the episode, they discover the person they need to go after isn’t the man, but rather, the really hot neighbor.
What rocked: For the first time in the shows history, we see a Michael that feels completely useless. Sam is out with a client and Fiona is in the Bahamas with Jesse trying to get some info about the body that fell from the sky. He is completely bored, that is until the action begins in the office building.
Which leads to the next awesome moment, this episode is a rarity in that Sam takes charge of the situation. He says that Mike can leave when the police start banging on the door but he’s going to stay and finish it.
This happens twenty minutes in, Mike stays of course, but Sam never lets control of the situation leave his grasp. Seeing Sam so deeply effected by the case made the episode that much more awesome. O, and the twist ending at the end of the episode was also excellent.
What sucked: Not so much sucked but just another rarity, this is one of the few episodes where Madeline doesn’t make an appearance at all, even just for a quick gag. That’s when you know that this is one of the ultra serious episodes, and I couldn’t of been happier.
Final thoughts: This was the best episode of the season so far and possibly of the last few episodes, going all the way back to season three. I know the show is supposed to have a light side, but when they get fully emotional, it is more than welcome in small doses.
What’s next: While trying to deal with the really hot neighbor/assassin, a doctor asks Michael for help when his clinic is targeted by drug dealers.
