Idiot Boxers Review: NCIS, Seventh Season Finale

TV review by Merrill Barr, co-host of The Idiot Boxers
Show: NCIS
Airs: CBS, Tuesdays, 8pm
Episodes: Season Seven Finale
Normally I like to talk in great detail about these season finales. But I am afraid I can’t do that for the season finale of this season of the #1 rated scripted show on television, NCIS. The reason for this is because the finale was awful. What makes NCIS great is its characters. They can pull off everything from comedy to cold hearted killer, and make it work. But in this episode, they did nothing.
Everything that happened was a set up for next season. If that wasn’t bad enough, this is the first episode I can say with complete certainty, the writers dropped the ball. I love watching Gibbs and his team, chase the bad guy every week. But that didn’t happen. Not to mention that there really wasn’t a bad guy in this episode.
I don’t believe for a second this mess of an episode is because of how long the show has been on. It has always been able to stay fresh over the years. The problem here is that the writers were thinking to much about next season, to really give this finale its proper dues.
